My nephew found me this 78 XR 75 and it runs ! has a XR80 tank on it and lots of other odds and ends. Will start to tear into it in next couple of weeks. ![]()
If you end up getting a 78 tank, I would be interested in buying this 79 tank.
I thought the tank was from a early 80s XR but I think you are correct that the tanks off the 79 model XR75. I am going to try to find a 78 tank and if I do I will definitely get back with you and work a deal on the 79 tank.
Lucky dog. Cool little scooter. I've got a '73 SL that is gonna get some love...someday.
Haven't even started tearing it down and found a XR100 2 inch longer swingarm for it and a set of 2 inch longer forks. Haven't even put a wrench to it and it already getting out of hand
. Will post some pics as I tear into it

Here is my '78 almost done with it.
That one is in great shape, good find.
My nephew is part bloodhound when it comes to finding great deals and barn finds.
Been working on this ‘81 XR100.

And I just picked up this ‘84 XR80 for my next project.
What paint are you using
Color rite R23 Tahitian Red and a very light grey primer and that gives it its bright red/orange color.
Honda R23 Tahitian Red (colorrite.com)
That’s not fair
Got my gold aluminum rims, waiting on my rear spoke set then I will lace up the new rim and throw on a new rear tire and it 99% done. Have had a lot of fun building this and the 78 is a 5 speed instead of 4 speed so it really has some pep.

Very nicely done. That style megaphone pipe is pretty throaty.
I have a 1978 to finish next year myself.
Pit Row
Gold wheels look awesome, I will be adding to mine as well.
These come with a quite insert baffle so they are not near as loud as you would think. http://xrminiracer.com/ has several different models of pipes and they all are pretty similar with the length of the megaphone being longer or shorter and the head pipe routing.
99.9% done but I did find a set of 13.5 fox airshocks that I might need to pull the trigger on and then I will be done and not spend any more $$$ on it as I went over budget by 200% already
That bike turned out awesome. Way cool man.
Nice Job !
