AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPION JAMES STEWART
UNDERWENT SURGERY TODAY, FRIDAY, JANUARY 29TH, 2010

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 29th, 2010) - Team San Manuel Yamaha's James Stewart underwent surgery this afternoon, to repair a broken scaphoid in his right wrist. Following Round 3 of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, in Anaheim, CA, Stewart continued to experience severe pain in the wrist. Although previous x-rays had not indicated there was a break, an MRI performed yesterday and reviewed by medical experts today, revealed the bone was broken. Surgery was performed immediately by orthopedic surgeon Dr. Arthur Ting, of Fremont, CA and was completed without incidence.

As a result of the surgery, Stewart will not be competing in San Francisco this weekend. His return to the race track will depend on how quickly he is able to recover post-surgery and will be evaluated and determined on a weekly basis. “James is a true champion. The fact that he rode as competitively as he did making the podium at Anaheim 2 with a broken wrist (unknowingly) is testimony to that. He's anxious to heal and get back on the race track as soon as possible,” said Larry Brooks, Team Manager.

That is a bummer. The biggest malady plaguing this sport week-to-week, year-to-year is the health of its brightest stars.

But it throws the whole series wide open. Wonder if KDub finds a second wind to get up front with RD. Wonder if Stroupe decides he likes the fo-fiddies better.

Wonder if Reed and Stewart come back about the same time and say , "Fug winning. I hate YOUR ass.".

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Worst thing about this is BL and R-acer won't have much bait for a while.

that really sucks for the series...rv better step it up and in a big time. If rv wants a championship...well now is the time with cr and js out. End of last year I thought he can do it..but it seems like he is losing his speed? bummer day for 2010 sx for sure.

This equals opportunity for someone....Hill, Short, Dungey, IT, Poto....anything is possible...2007 showed us one of the best outdoor seasons without James....here we go again and I am getting EXCITED!!

No matter how you look at it someone without a SX Championship is gonna have one come May. Great opp for someone to become a superstar.

It'll be a bit odd late in the season. The championship leaders will be having their own battles, and Stewart, Reed, Reardon, Grant, etc., will be coming back.

Sorry. I just trimmed it back to one. I wasn't checking time stamps. I also think your headline said rumor, rather than confirmed.

Besides, that's okay. Last week I was talking about how wounded James looked after the race, and some guys were just saying he was acting. Sheesh.

Now the racing will get good. Sucks he's out, but i bet there's now a bunch of riders hungry to capitalize on this.

OMG, this sucks. I am not a stewart fan really, but I enjoy watching him and dont wish injury on anyone. Well, looks like there will be a new champ this year after all.

Okay, I haven't looked around that much to verify, but I'm awarding you with the Dumb Post of the Night/Don't Drink and Type award. "Congratulations."

Open your eyes. Remember his mysterious illness during the national...had to pull out of the series because he didn't feel comfortable placing second to RC...then the USSX when he had bubbly guts...
