Since I parted ways with my 01 kx125 this past summer, I found another project to do this winter:

Engine is shot, missing cylinder, head, seat and expansion chamber.
Thinking of doing a splitfire replica.
If anybody has part-outs going on, feel free to PM me.
Tear down is completed, ready for powder coat and new parts.
wasn't lying about the engine being toast; had to hit the crankshaft with a 3lb sledge to get it to budge. obviously was stored outside under a tree.....
this came from the under the stator cover....
Crank, stator and flywheel are toast.
ordered a head and complete cylinder.
going to clean up cases at work tomorrow.

Wowzers!
before and after of the head; used the blaster at work to clean it up a bit, might cerakote if my powdercoat buddy is up for it.
blaster and ultrasonic cleaner today. Cylinder is pretty scored up so will have to ship it out to Millenium for repair. Powervalve parts cleaned up great, i broke the shaft with the nut on it so trying to find a replacement for that. Silencer sticker coming off, nbd, but thinking cerakote on the engine cases since the cylinder didnt clean up as well as everything else. Did Kawasaki do something special on the cylinder for surface finish? Its almost like the swingarm paint, where they used black primer on the raw aluminum then silver paint over it....
The cylinder, top clamp, bar/risers and swingarm are all painted.
finally found a PC pipe, even a works edition! Gotta get it cleaned up and put back to new. I have a PC silencer, but this pipe camew ith an FMF one.
N-Style remain the graphic kit, but no seat cover

Im going with something more period correct for graphics and a black seat. Clean and simple.
Scored a great deal on a Wiseco bottom end kit off ebay from canada. Probably sending my head to Millenium technologies for the service kit.
Ordered fork and shock springs today; found a gas tank for $50 and a seat for $30. Friend from work supposedly has an FMF pipe he wants to give me and i got in on that black friday deal from UFO for complete plastics for like $75.
Waiting on powder coating yet, about $2k worth of parts to go.
Powder coating tonight; cylinder ships out later this week or early next week; dropping forks/shock off tonight to get serviced and resprung; seat and gas tank come this week; asked for a few things for xmas so we'll see what we get this weekend. Hoping to have bike completed by feb 1.
Scored a Wiseco top end kit for $80; Millenium quoted me about $575 for boring, power valve, ring fitting and shipping.
I can’t believe that engine.
Ugh I know… all better now.
Pit Row
Got some parts back from the powder coater, waiting on suspension from shop and frame from powder coater. Millenium technologies has my top end to get sorted. Put on a few decals and now waiting on parts. Hoping to have a roller by the end of the month.
That subframe looks fucked...unless they changed the subframes from 98 to my 2000.
Bike changed a lot in 99, so ya probably why it’s different.
powders done, waiting on the main frame and swingarm. Going to lace up the wheels and get a rolling chassis together next week. Should have engine next week and suspension as well. Aiming for 4/1/24 completion date.
Started my 98 build with powdercoat on frame and sub. Still debating on polishing swingarm vs powdercoat (black). I may cerakote the factory hubs. Yours look 👍. The purple is period correct, and looks great with the green!
I found porche silver is the cleanest on the swingarm. I always like to do the hubs and triples in some kind of accent color, dirty magic was the choice this time but on my past pro circuit replica i did black cherry gloss.
Getting frame from powder tonight. Waiting on bearings for the rear end and stem. Top end is here from Millenium technologies. Time to get the bottom end sorted. Goal is to get tires/tubes mounted in 2 weeks and have a roller that i can sit on and smile after all the time and resources into it this far.
Frame is done. Time to build a bike. Top end showed up yesterday, need to assemble the bottom end.
Picked up forks and shock yesterday; waiting on stem bearings to show up and swingarm bearings (found a deal for bearings and seals from a seller on ebay from Germany). Adept is dragging their feet on shipping my spokes and nipples to finish up my wheels and get tires/tubes on after that.
Looking good,it’s the fun part now putting all the clean parts on after all the shit cleaning.
