I saw the new 2010 Husqvarna 50cc in my new dirtrider and that thing looks sick, but I havent hear anything about the "new" cobra 50? anyone got anymore info...and no I dont have a kid but their are a ton of little rippers in my area and I want to sponsor some and Idk what to look into too? The three I coach ride KTM's and they are gna move up to 60s this spring and I got about 5 more starting to move up from pw's and I just want to get a solid lineup with solid bike and im over the KTM scene... Any info would be great, thanks!

Don't know anything about the Husky but I do know that if you want a fast 50 that isn't a KTM......... Cobra is the way to go.

How do you get to be "somewhat" of a dealer? I am not being a smart ass, just curious?

There is nothing about a 50cc on their website...that I could find. I work at a Husky dealership and I haven't heard anything about a new 50.

I dont run a moto shop, I run a Fabrication shop and am planning on expanding and venturing into the moto/action sport/art industry(leaving my dad with the FAB shop), I am in the works of buying an old filling station and already have a Pitster Pro dealership going but that aint cutting it...as of 2010 I got a dealer license for Suzuki but I also want to sell Snowboards, Skateboards, and Wakeboard stuff as well...so in my eyes im "somewhat" of a dealer already but I dont wanna just sell motorcycles...hell im even gna let local artist come and bomb all the walls inside and out just so they dont have to do illegal artwork! idk maybe im getting in over my head but my philosophy is "you dont know til you try" and open critism is cool with me...

Cobra's might be the fastest in that class, but there's serious growth opportunity in a husky dealership these days.

cobras are the bikes to race ,my son races one as well, but i wonder if there is enough market to keep you going. i see a ton more ktm 50s all around in general and the more serious kids seem to be on the cobras. But maybe this could also be because of the limited dealers around selling cobras also

That Husky motor looks just like my kids old ktm 50 sr. My kid got a whole lot faster on the Cobra we got him. Cobra is still the class leader.

The Husky is the old KTM motor, made by a chinese knock off company.

The KTM is BETA made, the Husky is a knock off

The Husky is not a Chinese knock off motor. I;m pretty sure it is the Beta that KTM used to use. KTM brought the 50 motors in house in 2009 so I'm sure Beta is supplying Husky.

If you look at the results in the big 50cc amateur races, you will find almost the entire field is on Cobras.

ALL RACE 50's SUCK!!!! Thats where the whole minidad thing starts! Day before a big race they run fine in practice, Race day they run like shit just to piss you off! Very temperamental beast mind of there own. To do it over I would skip the 50's!!!

OK, that could be the case now, 2007 KTM was a Beta (same motor since 2003), makes sense if Husky picked up the Beta, they were knock-off's before. Thank goodness were past the 50 day's.

Been there, done that...... if you want to race then Cobra is the only way. My advice is to let junior ride whatever you can afford till he is ready for a 65. Stay away from racing till then. It worked for my son.

You know, I hear that all the time. I seriously considered a 50 as my son's first bike, but all the statements like yours make me glad I never bought one.

Hard to put a 4 yr old on a 65. You have to admit, after pulling clutches, stacking washers, doing it multiple times to get the "hit" right, changing oil every 15 minutes, it was worth it, right?

X 2

You don't know how glad I am we did that too.
I watch those poor bastards pulling their hair out every weekend and thank god I didn't get involved in that mess.

My son rode a PW 50 then an XR70 until he was good to go and then it was on to the RM65.

I was a mechanic for a national caliber 50cc kid and his dad a few years ago. I was so over maintaining five Cobra super minis. Things are fast, but what a lot of maintenance. I hate those clutches, ignitions and rear hub rubber cushion deals on those bikes.

I love my Husky TC450. Ran circles around my CRFs in handling and power and it weighs like 30lbs more. And I can actually get deals on new and used parts because barely anyone buys the brand.
