Guess that old platform isn't all washed up. Pretty impressive sweep of moto 2 in Schoolboy 1. Our local super fast kid Michael Piller doing really well, and Carson Asay in the mix too. Piller was running pro lap times this Fall at Washougal. On his 125.

Were they the only YZ’s in the class?
They are. Everyone else (18 riders) is on an Austrian bike.
Poor TBI junkers.. LOL
It should be noted, some of those Austrian bikes are Superminis, not 125's.
We've found that a well built 112 is every bit as fast as a good 125. Lighter bike, lighter pilot so power:weight ratio is better. In most cases it's more about the rider than the bike at this level anyway.

Looks like the 2 stroke 12+ class has 7 Yamahas in it. Not sure if all 125s or if 250s are allowed. Piller and Furtado battling up front again in this one.
Is the Davis kid on the Gas Gas Ty Davis' kid?
Not sure, but it seems there are a bunch of kids out there that are 2nd and even 3rd gen riders.
I understand the power/weight ratio comparison. It comes down to the rider and the track. ACP is a track that generally favors the bigger wheels and suspension of a 125 over a Supermini.
Local fast guys dad said the same, his built 112 was proably close to stock 125 HP and probably faster. His kid placed very high at mini o's this year.
Here's mine (#500) on a 105 SM at Washougal a couple years back. The rest of the field (Open C) is on 250s and 450s. He holeshot 4 of 5 motos that weekend. That bike was awesome.
I watched a kid on a YZ 125 pull the holeshot and smoke the 250C and 450C at the Iron Man qualifier. Granted he probably wasn't a true C rider but the YZ is by all means competitive.
Yes he is.
