Occasionally we see folk selling Rider jerseys and gear. I don't mind someone selling jerseys or whatever it is that he bought and paid for.
What really gets under my skin is folk who through various ways ( not paying for) obtain these special pieces of odds n bobs and then put it out there for profit.
I've been in this industry most of my life and over the years I have been blessed with so much.
I've never sold anything. I have donated or given stuff away to good causes.
When Greg Albertyn won the outdoor championship in 99 he and Ian Harrison gave me a signed jersey at Mount Morris, the day he sealed the championship. I brought it home to South Africa....Greg and Ian's home country. I felt awkward keeping it to myself so I sent it to a dealer who framed it and put it on the wall for all to see and enjoy.
Since then I have blessed and donated jerseys from Villo, Reed, Mc Grath, Stewart and many more..for good causes.
Giving stuff away has always given me satisfaction and I believe it is important, especially nowadays, that these pieces go to good causes to raise money for downed riders..or for the kids at Loma Linda.
How do you guys feel about selling off stuff that was given to you? Not ethical?
Meh… it is what it is. Some people have no intention on selling their Chad Reed Thor jersey from 09, until they are in a financial bind.
if they bought the product and waited forever in line to get Tomas autograph, then I think they can do what they want with their belonging.
I will say, the people that do it consistently to make money creating fake shit is annoying though.
just my 2 cents
I’d divorce my wife, give up fishing and, punch the Pope if I had an opportunity to own a McGrath, Stewart or, Carmichael jersey.
I think that stuff should go to people who actually appreciate it.
I've found if I appreciate those in my life, follow my passions, and avoid committing spiritual faux pas's (not saying the Pope hasn't earned a punch), the opportunities present themselves to acquire more "stuff" that I've always wanted.
I've also found that when that "stuff" arrives in my reality, it's still not as awesome as appreciating those in my life, following my passions, and generally avoiding committing spiritual faux pas's.
That's just me.
You do you.
Pics of wife? Lol. Jk. I have all 3 of those. Mc,rc james. My opinion, never sell gifts. Unless its a complete emergency, but there is other stuff, people can find to sell. If you bought it,earned it. Do whatever you want. Imo.

Don't join the mx collectables page on FB. These guys get free jerseys and sell them a week later. It's bad.
I've got a lot of free jerseys over the years and I have yet to sell one. Now I bought some early in my collecting faze, and I've sold a few of those, because the ones that really mean something to me are the ones that were given to me from said rider, not so much the ones I bought.
But that's just me.
You should work on your sense of humor Rafiki.
I collected them back in the day but don't anymore. With that said, I got some old jerseys and helmets from a friend many years ago and have started reaching out to riders and seeing if they wanted them for their own collection.
Back in the 80s, not many riders saved their stuff, and I think they regret that now. Kinda fun sending something back to them.
