Safe to say I'm super fucking annoyed. I've already missed two weeks of riding because of this BS. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
35 hours on what brand piston ?
I’d pull the head as you mentioned and look at the piston and valve train
Vertex...... Did I make a mistake?
Yeah I'm thinking I'll pull the head tonight and see what everything looks like in there. Gives me an excuse to use my badass cam chain tensioner tool.
Vertex is good but you never know what may have happened and the fact you have zero clearance on an intake would be good idea to take a peek inside .

DeCal Works Huge Plastic Inventory of UFO and Polisport kits.
For sure. I definitely noticed a slight loss of power within the last month. Felt like I was riding the piss out of it and it's just wasn't as fast as it used to be
Luckily had a perfect size shim laying around and was able get my left intake valve right in the middle of spec. And....... Still nothing
lol
Fuuuuuuuckkkkkkkkk
Really starting to hate dirtbikes right now
I feel for you Moto Bro, maybe it's a sign. Time for a new Honey.
I was hoping to ride it until the end of the year. Theres definitely some good deals out there since the interest rates went up
Pulled the flywheel and checked the woodruff key. Saw a video of a 2010 CRF that was popping when kicking over like mine is and the woodruff key was completely sheared. But, mine is totally fine. Anyone know what else I should look for? Still haven't pulled the head and looked at the piston. I'm already about $200 into this and pulling the head is another $40-50 in gaskets alone. Dumb question but, I haven't had any bike problems in a long time. Like I said earlier, when this all happened the bike bogged. If it were an engine problem would it bog or just totally stop? I haven't blown a bike up in over ten years.
I'd pull the valve cover and the spark plug and slowly crank the engine over. Check the cam timing, cam chain, tensioner, etc. Make sure nothing is obviously out of whack in the valve train. Not really into it for any gaskets or money to do this.
Need a Leak down test
I feel for you man. I bought a nos 2020 model a year ago and it occasionally just wont start, especially if you drive to a track thats far away. Then it just fires right up the next morning. Everything always checks out fine but the bike just wont fire sometimes. These have to be some of the worst bikes honda has ever built and will for sure be my last honda.
That's odd. This bike has 252 hours, never had a problem with it until now. I rode it almost every weekend for six years. I've already put too many hours into diagnosing it and I don't have any more tools to look at anything. I think I'm gonna take it to Twisted Development later this week. I never have other people work on my stuff but they have way more tools and knowledge than I do. Plus these honda test tools are crazy expensive and I don't think my next bike will be red anyways. I want something with a chassis that's more comfortable to ride on a rough track.
Crazy, the bright side you have a New Scooter. Hopefully it's Rad.
This 17 was a great bike. Excited to freshen it up and bring it back to life so my dad can ride it. OEM parts should be here tomorrow. I'm on a 2023 KX450 now and absolutely loving it. Such a comfortable and fun bike.
I also have a 2015 CRF450r for sale if anyone is interested.
