We are picking up a 24 YZ250F this week and I was looking at the Keefer maps. He made the following comment about the TH% but I have no idea what he's referring to or what to change it to. I sent an e-mail and waiting for his response.
DON’T FORGET TO CHANGE THE TH% under the tab “POSITION”.
Anyone know what he's referring to?
Thanks in Advance!
The throttle position is on the left side of the graph. See image attached.
Yeah, like Sanders said above. Some ppl when they add maps, they just enter the numbers inside the grid and forget (or don't realize) that the number values on the outside also change. So I think KK is just saying that so people don't forget about those changes too.
Im gonna ride mine for the first time Sat, Im gonna try stock at first and then the linear map and go from there. Let me know if you like the Stevie or Keefer Maps.
If you can change the numbers to Keefer spec.
Is that the same as buying a box from from TD for example?
or is that another level?

The Vortex mapped by Twisted is definitely another level. We currently have a Vortex on the 22 mapped by Twisted and it will fit the 24 but I don't think they have the 24 maps just yet.
One of the test riders at Swap sent me the map they were using that cleaned up the bottom end and increased top. I will try all 3 and post the results. Well my son will try all 3. I will be riding the old 22 model
Understood but do you need to adjust those?
I would be guilty of just putting the grid numbers in and riding it.
You don't need to. It will still feel different, just by changing only the grid numbers. But if you do the outer values, it does further dial in what the map is trying to accomplish.
I've forgotten those numbers on a map when I first entered it, went back and fixed it later and it's not a night and day thing, by any means.
Oh dang I didn't even think about the stock map. I haven't rode mine yet, I just loaded the linear and hard hitting.
So where are you getting the TH % numbers to enter from? Everyone posts the grid numbers but they never mention or show numbers for the TH?
Keefer replied and said they would do a tutorial.
I believe 80, 60, 40, 20 is default. On the screenshot for Keefer's passive map it's 80, 40, 25, 5. Free feeling 2.0 I think is still at default. So when you see a screenshot of a map, just double check if those position values are changed. Some maps they are and others aren't. Hopefully that answers what you are asking.
As mentioned above, click "POSITION" then select the number on the left side of the grid, then use the up and down button to change it. You need to do one number at a time.
I rode a Twisted Vortex on Tuesday. They have maps for 23/24. Previously, I liked the Yamaha power tuner map "Smooth Linear" the most but the TD Vortex enhanced that feel and made the bike even more rideable to me. The vortex has way more details for the tuner to work with than what we can do in the Power Tuner App.
Thanks for everyone’s help!
I was playing with the app last night and figured it out. I also just found out the older Vortex will not fit our 24 model☹️
Those values define the axis breakpoints of the map which are used to interpolate between the cells.
For example looking at the map that Sanders shared, if you held exactly 60% throttle your ECU would read right across the table as your RPMs increased. If you were at 50% it would average between the two rows (40% and 60%).
Generally, and engine's air is very linear to torque and RPM, so they like smooth linear maps. On high performance engines with a lot of cam overlap, and engines that take advantage of pressure pulses in the intake/exhaust, the engine will have distinct peaks and valleys where they take in more or less air than expected.
These volumetric efficiency peaks/valleys make the bike run rich/lean or over advanced/retard the ignition if you don't compensate for them. Adjusting the throttle and RPM axis breakpoints is how you can add resolution to these areas.
For 99% of people there's no reason to adjust unless you have a specific RPM or throttle angle where you feel something funny going on and want to target it.
