Hey guys, i ran into this site by coincident but do any of you remember me?..John Bowers riding a Hodaka from Tifton , Ga? Been quite a few years but help get that track in Cairo going back in the 70's when Bob Bell started it. Ran our home track, Jax. Fl, 1974 Orlando (mini cycle 2-1st place 100 cc and a 2nd in 80 cc) and anywhere else we could go! Where did the years....My best years running against Jeff Ward, Rhett Radford who spent a few days at home with me, Tammy Kirk, Timmy Timmons, Audi Ward and so many others great folks of the time from everywhere. Started out Yamaha, Indian, Honda and the best of all Hodaka sponsored by Thigpen distributors who had the 7 souteastern states. I find it so damn cool that folks still talk about us "old timers"!

wownd out- Yes, that was taken the day that the NMA raced at OCIR. All other races there were under the lights.

Sam Storer was the fastest 80cc rider I ever saw at OCIR night racing during the 1981-1982 era. I watched Sam beat Bruce Bunch out there as well as Paul Denis, Mike Healey etc.. I remember Scott Brown from Corona friday night racing but I am sure he was there too.

Scott Brown was still in the 9-11 class at this time. Too bad his dad was the biggest asshole this planet has ever seen!. The Lizard was pretty good!.

yeah he was a bit of an asshole....He just wanted the best for me... DId he push too hard ?yeah..I hated racing by the time I was 15.....We get along a bit better now....lol.

No being all business is very bad! if your not having a good time doing it, it becomes to much of a job and you begin to not like it and you will get burned out, trust me it happens when you turn pro, because it like a job then.

delano- #47 Jeff Emig is the rider. That shot was taken in 1989 and used for the cover of the 1990 World Mini Grand Prix program. I published the book from 1985-1995. Emig had moved up from the minis for some time by then. He raced in four classes in 1989 which included the 125 Stock/Modified Pro classes and the 250 Stock/Modified Pro classes--and he won them all!

I'm pretty sure that shot above from the World Mini is Emig..

It looks like his Thor/Hallman clothes and Sidi boots at the time, the Vohlands were wearing Yoko.

wpark89- Yes, the shot of the Kawasaki rider (three pictures above) is Jeff Emig. I used a 8X achromatisch magnifier and could see #47 on the side plate and that belonged to Emig. #711 Tallon Vohland competed in the 125 and 250 Stock and Modified Pro classes but coudn't win against Emig. Tallon did take the top spot in the 500 Pro class.

I always liked Flyin' Mike Brown. You California guys were all over my minicycle action mags....which I still have from issue number one.

Off course Jeff Ward/Brian Myerscough/ and some other CA. kids.

We were always wanting some coverage in the Mid West but could only dream!

Nice pic Tom: This pic reminds me of many a practice days in the hot summer heat. One time we were out on a Wed and it was me, Chris Taylor and Bruce. I was still able to hold off Taylor at this point and man was he pissed when we would come in for a break. He'd say, damit Poof, why can't I get by you. Bruce just looked at me and said, "Poof, your Slow". These old pictures bring back the best memories, and Bruce was quite a character. What a smart ass! Let's just say that was the last time I ever held of #33 and well, Bruce always lapped me anyway!
