My local shop has a decent deal on an ‘23 Erzbergrodeo TPI bike. Or, I can wait for a ‘24 TBI XCW.

Any thoughts from the hard enduro group? Any pros or cons to the TPI / TBI?

From a tech standpoint, the TBI bikes are much more refined. It seems like ktm/husky missed the mark on some of the r&d with the TPI, still a good bike but I think the TBI is worth the wait

The TPI has gotten better, but we see issues from time to time with really odd runnability issues from the non adjustable throttle body.

They have a issue killing the ambient air pressure sensor which renders the bike to a plug fouling mess.

It is common for them to a have an issue where they run almost loaded up ( partially operator error on startup procedure)

Most of the ones we have really tuned in needed a remap to clean up.

Seen a few with oil pump issues leading to either over or under oiling the motor, the oil delivery being raw oil through the throttle body and mixing at the motor is hard to meter and problematic

oil tanks crack from time to time

They are finnicky in cold weather usually.

The TBI bikes seem to run great out of the box, and the mixed fuel is much more reliable, They took notes and really simplified the bike to something much more like a 2t should be instead of the contraption the TPI sort of is. But we haven't had them for a super long time so its hard to know. So far they look great!

I also work with Huskys not KTMs.

I'm not sure if that makes a difference in the matter.

Yeah. That’s what I was thinking. TBI seems to be less cantankerous.

looks like I will hold out for a ‘24

Any issues you see with TPi noted above you will most likely see with TBi. Both injected, both run CCP sensors, oil pumps, etc.
Some have complaints about the new frame. Enough of an issue that there is a revised frame for 25. TPi has been solid for the most part other than the normal outliers yuh would hear complaints about.
The new fork is great and the power delivery on the new XCW is very smooth and electric. Some feel it’s almost softer than TPi.
