I just rebuilt a 2007 crf250r and the Kickstarter doesn't return. I don't have the sparkplug in and was wondering if that would be the problem? All my mechanic buddies have no clue about it so any help would be appreciated.
Did you put the kickstart assembly in correctly when you rebuilt the bike?
Yes and I made sure the marks were lined up.
The spark plug shouldn’t play a role on the kickstarter, I would guess the spring came out of one the holes, there’s one on the shaft and on on the engine case.. if both of those are in I would next guess the spring isn’t wound enough and need to turn it back to get more spring force.. if your certain those are all in the correct spot something has to be binding up, maybe the seal where it comes out of the inner clutch cover or where the shaft sits into the engine case.. id look at an oem diagram and make sure your not missing a washer/shim or something
Hey, just a little update, I figured out what happened. The case got warped and the Kickstarter was sticking on that. Thanks for the advice.

If the notch on the (COLLAR, KICK SPINDLE 28282-KZ4-B00) is not aligned with the spring it will put to much pressure on kick start spindle and not return. No.9 on micro fiche
I rested the case and the speed square I was using was bent. Now it only binds up when we tighten bolts on the closer half to the spindle. I am just confused any other things I should check?
