As title, currently building a 2005 Stefan Everts YZ450F Factory Rinaldi replica build for someone, so thought I'd keep updates here for those who are interested in something a little different to the typical 2 stroke restorations.
I'm also on the hunt for a few parts including the carbon Acerbis front Spider disc guard if anyone has a new/used one?
Super low hour 2004 machine is the base bike. Although lots end up being replaced, it's cool nice to not have to replace lots of worn out parts with new OEM stuff, and I can restore and keep most parts this time round.
Feel free to post any info/pics/comments! Cheers
The donor machine, a gem as you can tell!
A big piece to the puzzle on a build like this.... original Tecnosel Team Graphics/Seat cover. However, a few of these will be remade using the originals as templates, but with the proper L&M logos added (that the team obviously couldn't use at some GPs due to cigarette advertising).
The bike in all it's glory. No it won't have all of the factory parts that Everts used, but aiming for something very trick and as close (visually) to this as possible.
One of few photos with the L&M logos.

Will be a great build!!! Super clean bike to start with!!
NOS Tommi Bars and Barpad… essential!
Stripped. Frame already has glide plate tabs sorted, so is now going off to Ceramx with the spring to be Powdercoated gunmetal grey, and swingarm and subframe are going to be vapourblasted to strip the clear anodising and then the refurb can begin on each.
Hubs vapour blasted, hard anodised black, Black Excel rims laced up with Bulldog HD spokes and alloy nipples. A set of Pirelli MX32s ready to be fitted with new tubes and rim locks.
Braking Batfly disc kits
Superb!
I don't suppose you have the hookup for some 1998 Rinaldi Tecnosel Graphics either original or someone who can reproduce them to a high standard in the UK?
You can try Evo Bits n Bobs in the UK who supplied these ones, but I dont think he has anything like you're after. Have you tried Mastercross in Italy, he may have some of the Tecnosel kit remakes left.
Try Unbound mx UK, i am sure he can help you out https://www.instagram.com/unboundedmx/?hl=sv
Sorry I didn't read that properly and thought you were looking for original or remake seat cover! Mastercross may have a Tecnosel seat cover, but for graphics yeah definitely try Unbounded Decals, they're the best around.
Thanks I'll drop them a line, I did try Mastercross and he had nothing.
Pit Row
I believe they still produce the ones you want. I maybe wrong, but are these them? https://blackbirdracing.com/products/yamaha/yz-125-250-96-01/complete-s…
Thanks unfortunately no I am after the black and red style
Ah yeah, it maybe worth a message to blackbird they maybe able to sort some
Yeah I've tried that but they didn't have the templates anymore.
Assembled! Also NOS Afam grey sprocket too.
Rear caliper guard tabs and disc guard tabs removed. Before:
After:
Now to be vapour blasted then hard anodised black with the rear caliper.
Factory Brembo Front caliper. It came with a factory Yamaha billet 270mm carrier but is 77mm bolt spacing and I need one that’s 102mm to fit the OEM forks. Would anyone be able to help please?
Frame back from powdercoat in the correct grey colour
Top job by Ceramx as always!
I still remember riding a new 2003 YZ450F when they were first released end of 2002.
The ergos and the handling were incredible compared to the earlier gen. Best of luck w your build.
NOS Titanium Arrow Rinaldi spec silencer. Will be a shame to remove the YRRD badge (which still has the film covering on!) to switch to the Arrow one, but has to be done…
The welding on this is gorgeous!
Assembly begins! Refurbed brake pedal with fresh zinc plated Tip and new press rivet. Factory Carbon waterpump guard.
