Seriously I'm not a hater in fact I'm known on here as a Deegan defender! My comment was that it is too soon to make an assumption...I would absolutely love for Deegan to win the championship to put the last nail in the coffin of the haters...Can't wait to see how the rest of the season goes.

The way he rode against Hunter at Thunder Valley doesn’t help his cause. He’s still in the “show me” state for a lot of us, including myself. I want to see him battle for wins using talent more often, I don’t like being disappointed. When he rides like that, it’s disappointing.
I'd never heard of him before this season, although with his last name I assumed he was Brian Deegan's son. I knew nothing about him and was completely neutral about him. I have always known motocross is a sport where the fighters must prove themselves in combat.
I find the kid himself to be pleasant with a good family backing him, like so many other rising riders I've seen before. What seems to be different about him is for some reason he has some fans that are over-hyping him and doing it in peoples faces with attitude. Not really sure why that is exactly, but it reminds me of another rider who had the same thing happen: Mike Alessi.
I think if the kid has the real stuff, it will be shown in combat and he will earn the glory, like all who have come before him. If he doesn't he won't, but we'll get to see the battles either way.
I hear you, he's young and he'll either mature or become the next Bam Bam. Regardless, this thread only exists a result of Hunter crashing. We've all seen that Deegan doesn't have much for Hunter yet but that could change over time.

Deegan is impressive. Fast, creative lines. Hunter Lawrence likely win this championship, he has put in his time. RJ Hampshire expect to finish second overall. Finally that world champ making inroads (expect Vialle to win overall this season). Putting Deegan as third overall in my books.

With all due respect, and I’m not a hater at all the kid is killer but it’s the knee jerk reactions that I think people get sick of… we are talking about a guy that got passed and dropped like bad habit by his teammate and left in the second Moto. His teammate should be the one everyone is talking about after that ride not Deegan. If Levi could be consistent he’s a much bigger threat. He’s not as close in points yet but there’s a lot of racing left. Again I like the kid but he’s not even the best on his team
No injuries for Hunter, just banged up and will be back on the start gate.. dare say he doesn't lose an overall for the rest of the season and brings home the championship.
To date, Deegan is beating both Justin Cooper and Levi so from a championship perspective Deegan is the best rider on the team so far. I understand what you are saying, it's very possible Deegan could get smoked by either of them on any given day but if they don't beat Deegan consistently they won't finish in front of him in the championship standings. Levi did spank him in the 2nd moto, but how much of that was Deegan going for the overall? Like you said, there's a lot of racing left so we'll find who finishes on top at the end of the season.
