Making the Alpinestars helmet quieter?

Just switched to an SM8 from a TLD. I love everything about the helmet except that it lets more sound in compared to the TLD. 

Has anyone had any luck making a helmet quieter? Do the thicker cheek pads on the SM8/10 make it quieter?

I just got an SM-8 as well and love it. 
I can't tell a sound difference between it and my Moto-9.

Ear plugs or fill the open area on the cheek pad with egg crate foam or something similar.

The ear cavities are definitely more spacious on the SM-8 compared to the TLD, which is why I think it lets in more sound. I like the egg crate foam idea!

Putting foam in the ear holes makes a noticeable difference.
