I am looking to purchase either of these bikes, 2021+. I have sat on both but have not ridden both. Does anyone have experience on which of these two would have better ergonomics and be a better fit for a 6'3 tall rider? From what I have gathered, both have a different feel but the opinions seem split based on different unrelated threads I have read. None have been direct comparisons.
No opportunity to ride both.
Thanks
It isn’t even a contest between the two. Kawasakis offer the most adjustable rider compartment in the class (the ability to lower the foot pegs was a game changer for me). I’m 6’3” as well and have been racing for 30 years and have never felt as comfortable as I am on my KX450 (same chassis). The Austrian bikes used to be comfy way back in the day (I used to participate in shootouts occasionally) but I seriously feel like I’m riding a Supermini when I get on the current gen bike for a few laps. That’s part of the reason they are always the lightest bikes in the class. They aren’t bristling with Ti hardware. They are just a bit smaller. I’m sure that works great for a Cooper Webb sized rider, but not for someone built like me.
I personally race with the foot pegs in the lower position and my bars in the forward holes but rotated back.
100% Kawasaki
The end.
I am large and think my GG feels cramped. Lowered pegs help a little but not too much. My biggest problem is that I can't hardly grip the bike because of the way my legs and knees interact with the bodywork. It's a bigger problem that it sounds like.
Damn, I was thinking of getting a gas gas Mc250. I’m 6’3, currently on a 2020 KX250. Might just get another KX250 in 2024

Yep, KX, no contest. I'm 6'6" and was on ktm for a few years before switching to the kawi this year. It's the first dirt bike that I've felt comes close to even remotely fitting me. My buddies have all said I look completely different on the bike too (in a good way).
Kawasaki seems to fix me the best.....I'm 6'3". I also have a KTM 350 and it's a little more cramped. Get a tall seat, put the pegs in the lowest position (KX is the only bike that offers this option), and move the bars to the forward position on the triple clamps. Very open cockpit for tall people.
Thanks guys.
Thoughts on being able to open up the MC250 to give a more similar feel to the KX? Lowered foot pegs, taller bars and taller seat?
I have been seriously considering the MC350 as well for more then the 250 has to offer at 220 lbs a bit concerned the mc350 would be a better option then the 250 and that i might not feel the 250 is enough bike. But really between these two (three) bikes. Like the looks of the MC and just something different.
I’m in the same boat man. Planning to get a new bike next year. Trying to decide between a 23/24 Kx250, Kx450, or Mc250 or 450.
A lot of my friends tell me I need a 450, I’m 6’3 and 208lbs. But I love revving the bike out haha. Some jumps my friends are doing in mid 4th gear on a 250f I have to do in top of 4th or 5th!
Gonna ride my friends 23 Kx450 next weekend and see how I like it.
KTM/Husky/Gasgas sell taller seats and they are very reasonable on price. The Gasgas has four bar positions, and the front ones are not super far up since it doesn't have rubber isolators so you have some options there. I think the latest gen bikes feel a little less cramped, but you would have to wait for a 2024 Gasgas to get that or buy the 23-24 KTM instead. The Husky sits lower so you probably won't like that.
Having said all that the Kawasaki is usually priced the best other than an occasional Suzuki blow out sale. I bet you are looking at some of the killer deals on 2023 gasgas though.
I'm just shy of 6'3" and have a 21' Husky FX350 Id imagine ergos are the same as the GasGas.
I'm running the Renthal 822 (KTM low bend) and a Husky tall seat +20mm seat. Seat made a huge difference in squeezing the bike but was kind of negligible as far as sitting knee bend comfort. Dont mess with tall bars or any of that weird shit, your arms are longer too so no need to bring the bars closer.
shitty screen shot of a video but the only picture I have of me on the bike after the tall seat, your legs are going to still be crunched up but thats life. Also why I cant wear knee braces they suck when your knees are this bent.
You think I’m too big for a 250f man? I really gotta be WFO and press into some of the bigger jumps at my track to clear them.
A 2020 kx250 isn’t known for great bottom end. A ktm 250 or 2023 kx250 will probably be a little better. I am sure a 350 or 450 will make it easier assuming you don’t lose too much corner speed.
Another great point, regarding Kawasaki adjustable pegs, bars (ergonomics). Not sure any other manufacturer offers these options to large, or small riders.
I'm 6'6" (maybe a little more). I bought a 05 KTM exc530 from a guy a few years ago who had already done the "tall guy" mods. Handle bar risers, lowered foot pegs, and an Enduro engineering tall seat, and new spring. I ended up removing the risers because I couldn't stand the way it felt. I'm starting to think I want to get a regular seat too. I grew up riding and I can't seem to get the bike feeling right. Sounds like maybe the kx would be a better fit. I'm afraid the reality is that nothing will really fit. Just gotta do the best you can. There was a company that I believe is now out of business (2tall racing I think). They made kits for specific bikes. I think you can still find some if you get lucky.
Kx250 is good for tall riders. I have a 2022 350sxf and a 2022 kx250 and the 250 has a better cockpit for tall guys imo (I’m 6’3”)
