This property has direct access to acers and acers of fun offroad driving and riding (bike or horse) just down at the end of our street. Cross Lake Mathews at Burrows (all dirt from house except for 30 ft) and you have access to hundreds of acres of same. If that's not enough, head to the area across from the lake levee (a few miles), that's hundreds of acers more. All without being hassled by anyone.
Most remarkable views in riverside county. If you don’t care about your home’s view, then look no further, you’ll get much better value down in the valley. However, if spectacular views and living smack in the SoCal MX epicenter is at or near the top of your “must have” list and you have the resources, read on, you won’t be disappointed.
You’ll find this home atop the tallest populated mountain facing Lake Mathews (just outside Corona) in proximity with only 5 other homes, all on approx. 5 acres (no subdividing). Top down, unobstructed, over 180-degree view of San Bernardino, Riverside, Ontario, Corona and all the surrounding mountains. It feels like you’re atop Mt Olympus when the fog rolls into the lower valley like a thick blanket beneath you. On July 4th, watch dozens of fireworks displays all the way to the opposite foothills. Every so often you’ll get snow as well (of course, it mostly a novelty and typically disappears within hours). The top of the mountain is also a great place for watching Eagles effortlessly circle as they ride the thermals that rise from the basin.
The kitchen, family/dining room, living room, office area, master bedroom, all have unobstructed views. Cook, eat, play, entertain, work and fall asleep looking straight out to the lake and surrounding areas/city lights. To highlight this, the living room has 16 ft tall walls/ceiling with the one side facing the lake composed mostly of windows for a breathtaking experience. In fact, all rooms facing the lake have multiple windows as described and where the nearest living thing that could “look back” is literally miles away. Don’t worry about what you’re wearing (or not wearing) as it’s about as private as it gets!
This house has over 5500 Sq/ft of backyard/side yards all with patio quality pavers surrounded by 6 ft high two-sided split faced cinderblock walls on the non-view sides. Very low maintenance and no worries about rabbits and other critters eating/digging up your, plants, flowers and pooping everywhere (people who’ve lived in such areas know what I mean)!
The Southwest gated side yard is large enough (and used for) an official sized pickleball court but could be volleyball, badminton, or practice tennis. Large double glass security french doors from kitchen/family room open up to this area. If you are into outdoor cooking/dining, the doors and kitchen window are perfect complement for building that huge outdoor kitchen/BBQ area using the kitchen window as a food/beverage passthrough onto an outdoor island/cooking area. Even from the side yard, the view is still spectacular.
The Northeast gated side yard is a bit smaller and more secluded with side access from the master bedroom. Perfect for that place to “get away” from it all. A 12x10 louvered pergola with pull down shades makes for complete privacy, although probably 50% of the entire backyard can only be seen by Heaven as is.
The backyard proper has the most paver area and the best views looking directly out to lake Mathews and the adjacent counties. There’s plenty of flat paver space to do whatever you like, an entertainer’s dream. The far edge of the pavers is secured from below by a 3 ft retaining wall which itself simply “falls away” down a 30 foot slope making the view even more dramatic. It’s as if the earth just “disappears”. The lower slope is enclosed by 6 foot chain link fence which can’t be seen from above. Together the fence and retaining wall keep all the “view area” critters off the upper property. A real problem in these areas. 150 linier feet of view fence encircles the backyard paved area for safety and the most unobstructed views. Very expensive, but worth the money.
From there the mountain just keeps falling away with fantastic rock formations and other miracles of nature in their unmolested state all the way to the bottom of the five-acre property line. For the adventurous, it would be easy to build several zip lines hundreds of feet long from rock outcropping to rock outcropping, all the way down the mountain side. A real thrill ride for sure. A downhill mountain biker would be able to cut a track from top to bottom making it as challenging as his/her skill allows. Or just cut your own nature walk trail. So many creative options to use this unutilized land.
Another prominent backyard feature is the recently resurfaced (Pebble tec) pool in the backyard with all new equipment (propane heater, filter, variable speed pump and solar powered heat pump). The equipment is surrounded by a 6 foot tall, split faced cinderblock enclosure to keep mechanical noise to a minimum. (Note: the home has approx. 20kw of solar panels and two inverters). The pool has a custom “swim into” sitting area on the slope side that’ll fit over 10 adults including two beverage/umbrella tables. Needless to say, the view (particularly at night) is fantastic. Perfect for those late summer nights and/or entertaining.
The main upper driveway leads to a 2 ½ car sized garage and the front entrance. There’s room for 4-5 vehicles outside the garage with overflow for up to 20 more cars (or horses/livestock, building that 2000 sqft plus dream garage, or?) in the adjacent flat area beyond the side yard wall. There’s also a 24X20 slab adjacent to the garage intended to support a car lift, so it’s min 6 inches thick high strength concrete with re-bar at 12” centers. Perfect for a carport as well. Owner has enough pavers to cover the slab if that’s what’s desired. A lift can still be installed regardless.
The front yard has two sided split faced block walls spanning the entire front property line and a 6 foot retaining wall separating the upper (most used) driveway from the lower driveway. The lower driveway is long/wide enough for dozens of cars (party?) or several RVs. There is a 20x24 concrete slab at the end of the lower driveway, perfect for building that custom garage or covered RV storage. Over 100 linier feet of semi view fence separates the front yard upper property from the lower driveway, again for safety. The lower driveway area is accessible by both stairs and ramp depending on your needs. The lower driveway is packed road base, so, no issues with getting in/out regardless of weather.
Although the area is very rural, the 5 other families take pride in our little community and are respectful of each other, meaning no “eye sores” (junk cars, piles of trash, old tires, etc) to be seen or detract from the “top of the mountain” experience.
A long, private, dead end, paved road keeps through traffic and unwanted people to an absolute minimum. Other than delivery vehicles, most days are without ANY unscheduled visitors! Very secluded.
This is a unique property located in a very unique location. Therefore, the typical owner demographics probably won’t apply. However, if you fall into one of these categories, it’s a dream.
Our demographic is mostly older, affluent, maybe with high school kids (with transportation) with interests in security, safety, seclusion, and certain hobbies like mtn biking, dirtbikes, SXSs, shooting, hiking, making noise (parties, garage work, construction, hotrods, etc), 4x4s, horses, farm animals, contractors with large equipment to store on-site, home-based business needing inventory/storage room to grow, etc.

Nice place, where you heading?
Yea makes you wonder why leave the Dream.
My wife and I thought this would be our last home, so we invested a bunch of money to make it exactly the way we wanted. But I guess God had another plan for us. So we’re headed to Ohio (Columbus area) to be near my wife’s older sister and her family. In fact, we already bought a home on 10 acres, big enough to build my own track. We’re going to live in our corona home until it sells. So if anyone wants to take a look just text me. 602 752 0083.
A few pics of the property fromGoogle Earth (old pics) and riding areas. This is how we bought the house.

Nice place and great descriptive write up! GLWS
Very cool, I used to live up in the San Bernardino mountains in Crestline, and I could hop on my bike and go hit the trails whenever I wanted. Good luck with the sale. I think the housing market is still going to be hot for a while.
If you don’t move soon, will potentially miss the riding season in Columbus area. Winter starts any time between September and January here, with a few days of summer mixed in December as well. Could get 2 feet of snow or be 70 all winter, you never know.
That’s what I’ve been told, lol. It’s gonna be a change, but I’ve lived most of my 66 years in SoCal (grew up in NorCal), so a change isn’t bad. I’ll need all you Buckeyes (is that correct?) to clue me in on the local riding and tracks. I suspect I’ll be driving an hour or so to race, but that’s the way it was when I lived closer to the beach anyway. My house here is only 15 mins to Perris Raceway and Starwest (if they reopen), so I’ve been spoiled.
I didn’t mention it in my description, but I’ve got plans for a 2000 sq/ft garage located in the side lot. Pulled permits but never pulled the trigger.
Yes, Buckeyes, better get used to that in the Columbus area as The Ohio State Buckeyes football is like a religion up there. I am a couple hours south of Columbus area, right outside of Cincinnati on the other side of the river. It should be a good home base as you are not terribly far from Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton and even Pennsylvania and West Virginia. I know Honda Hills just reopened last year up that way. I just ride, not race any longer, but Scott Plessinger is really building up the Buckeye Series and some of the tracks he promotes.
