Going to pick up my new bike thursday after a 4 year hiatus from riding. A bit nervous and was looking at track options here in Birmingham, AL area. Used to ride in NJ and had my choice of Englishtown, Blue Diamond, Field of Dreams, etc. Starting to realize there is less down here and a bit worried about how crowded these may get and how they are managed/maintained before I jump back into riding again. Unfortunately Mill Creek is now perm closed (30 mins from my house). Sand Mountain looks tight and a bit more technical for my old rusty self. McLarty looks pretty safe for a vet/newb but also looks like it gets packed. Monster Mountain looks like the things dreams are made of but a good 2 hours from me. Figured there might be some local Alabama people who can speak to the scene down here before I invest in this again. Turning 38 this year and tired of just working and doing "dad" stuff (don't even have kids yet).

Another great option on the Georgia/Alabama border is Big Springs MX in Roanoke. The owner, Joel, is a great guy and takes really good care of the track.
Millcreek closing was a huge bummer, but they didn't open that frequently these days, and when they did open for practice, the track was pretty rough. Such a fun layout though.
Just go to Monster. I grew up in NW Florida and it is one of the best tracks in the country period. It's worth any drive you do for it. They also open now during the week some.
Crossbone is extremely vet friendly
Check out Dodge City MX also. It's 45 mins from you. It's new(ish), and I haven't been yet, but I know one of the guys who's involved with it and they're working really hard to make it a good place. I have a feeling it's pretty quiet out there.

Also Red Dirt Road mx or formerly known as Noahs. Also Cash Brothers mx in Vance not far from the Mercedes plant. Big Springs is east of you. Also like the other guys said the panhandle of Florida has a good selection. Even west of you into Miss. there is Dirty Deeds, if its still there. in Meridian.
Ive ridden a couple of tracks down there and Sand Mountain was my favorite by far, to me it was just a fun layout. Maybe it has changed but I didn't think it was too technical. Either way, if you are willing to drive a couple hours south you have some really good options. Monster, Crossbones, War Eagle, County Line MX, there is also a track in Milton, FL but forget the name. 38 and no kids? Buy a van and do weekend trips. Did when I lived down there in Destin and loved it.
Sand Mountain MX in Albertville Al.
Mx191 is in Milton Florida. Badass track that’s safe and prep is to notch. Monster is phenomenal of course. McClarty is a great newb/vet place but I wouldn’t go too far outta the way for it. We usually hit on the way home from Monster.
Thanks y’all. Gonna give them all a try.
