They need to really put this in place! I think it will get the riders to do the whole year!

It was crazy last year when Shorty got it. It just shows his consistency when he does'nt score a win indoor or outdoor and out scores every rider in the country overall by almost 30 pts.. I like the Grand National idea and the blue # plate looked great on Baileys bike back in the day. The only problem I have w/it is I think they should count the 250s sx points. If a 450 can't out score them for the year when they race twice as many supercrosses they don't deserve to be ranked on top of them .. It's ridiculous that they don't count regional titles as ama championships and even worse if they didn't give them credit for the points in a overall points race IMO.. Just my 2 cents..

Yeah I agree they should count 250 points. Look at Nico this year he's back to a 3 digit number cause his SX points don't count.

All 250f riders should be three digit guys. The 450 class is suppose to be the premier class. All single digit numbers should be in the big bike class only.

I total disagree, east west SX are AMA championships just not national championships and rightly so. It's definitely watered down because of the split. The only race that's on par is the shoot out! Those earned points should count. That said , I think they should get rid of the regional SX and turn it into a national series and run every weekend with the 450 series. jm2cents

MXA is right the way they did it. It's exactly how it used to be done. If they still ran it this way, James would run #1 in sx and then #10 in outdoors. (exactly how it should be still in my opinion)

If the AMA did away with permanent numbers and awarded National numbers based on the previous year's combined performance in SX and MX, like they use to, you wouldn't see top riders sitting out MX because they don't feel like doing it. Do you think James would rather be running a number 1 or number 10 in 2010?

If someone chooses to sit out something and put themselves out of a championship title that reflects those points, that is their choice. That doesn't make the title, or whoever takes it home 'a farce'. In fact, if the title is worth enough, it might be fairer to label the people that willfully take themselves out of the running, "stupid".

But it's a free country. Both ways.

How about this: He's the "best" rider, but not the Grand National Champion, since he decided to be "not really off, since I was filming commercials for Yamaha and my reality show".

Well now, everyone's happy yes?
