I have put the ‘16-‘22 X-Trig clamps on both of my ‘23 bikes. Bolt right up, not sure what you’re measuring, but x-trig clamps fit perfectly.

I was there that day at Jammers.
I was told that all 16-22 clamps fit the newer 23 style ktm. I dont see why the xtrig would be different then say, RE, Neken etc.
Any others have tried other clamps from older gen to this new one.
I was responding to the post about the neck of the frame being 5mm longer and the ‘22 clamps being different and not fitting the ‘23. I’ve clearly mounted them and no issues.
I’m sure all brands would work, but I have only used xtrig clamps, so I can’t speak for any other brands.

Has anyone had the new MAP update installed that is supposed to be a fueling change?
Which number of map are you talking about? Stock is 103, the next was 104 and addressed the issue of a warning code appearing when you accidentally hit the start button while running. Haven't heard of anything past that myself...
Current map since 12/7/22 ends in 1004.
Here is test on the 300 SX.....finally
https://www.dirtrider.com/tests/ktm-300-sx-first-ride-review-2023/
The Keefer East Coast test article has been the most accurate and informative test I have read to date. Interested to see what MXA says about the bike. This article sounds more like a first impression.
Got the new 300SX out for the first time yesterday. I had only heat cycled the bike up and down the street 2-3 times prior to riding yesterday. Started with a sitting heat cycle then once cooled went out for 2 laps about 1/4-1/2 throttle. After that it was normal riding.
Noticed riding it up and down the road and initially yesterday a lot of smoke and it ran a little blubbery. That was with the gas that came with the bike. Once I added my gas, pump Sunoco 93 with Bel-Ray at 60:1 it cleaned out and ran great with very little exhaust smoke. So must've been the shop gas causing the issues.
Set tire pressure and put 155 psi in forks and just rode. Didn't set sag on shock yet. Figured I'd let it break in a little first. Actually, I'm going to order a new shock spring today. I'm right under 200 lbs, so it will be needed.
So far the bike is awesome. So many things going on with a new bike it's hard for me to concentrate on one thing. But I didn't feel anything negative at all. Even what should've been a soft rear spring for me didn't feel that bad. Then again I wasn't up to full speed. Some are saying they felt a front end push at mid-exit of corner. I didn't experience that one time. It felt very planted throughout the corner. One thing to note about that is I did notice my forks were slid up in the clamps higher than I've typically run them. I think it was like 3 and a 1/4 or 2 and a 1/4 rings up in the clamp. Then again as stated earlier I wasn't up to full speed so the front end could feel different with more speed.
I ordered a 50 tooth rear sprocket from others feedback but really only noticed a few areas where I thought it "may" help. I haven't installed it and at this point not sure if I will. I ran the white map a few times but quickly went to the green and never went back. A lot more in the upper mid and top end with it.
Another note is the 65mm of chain slack sure looks like too much! But guess I'll get used to seeing that. How is the quality of the stock KTM chain?
I got 20 hrs out of the stock chain & sprockets, lots of sand riding. I normally remove stock chain & replace with xring but figured I would burn up stock setup until I determine my gearing choice. I thought stock gearing was good for long, flowing Mx track but I will be trying a 50 rear to make the 2nd to 3rd tighter. I have my 2016 conevalve forks on mine, played with 1st & 2nd line, never 3rd line, maybe I will try 3rd line? I am 190-195 w/out gear, Stock spring seems fine so far. I called Factory Connection for a shock service, they are waiting on bladder kits, so I held off having my shock serviced. I feel the center to exit front end push in ruts & flat turns, it’s predictable but it’s there, otherwise I like the chassis, very stable, and planted. Some guys are running the hotter plug, I have not tried that yet. No issues at all with plug fouling. 65mm chain slack, error on side of loose. Anything tighter & you will see binding at full suspension bottoming. It’s less noisy with an xring chain. I replaced my swingarm buffer the same time I replaced chain & sprockets, they are cheap.
I was told there was a MAP release that was supposed to make some fueling changes. Is there a way to check for sure? My understanding is that the only real way to know is when the dealer hooks up to the bike. This is 2nd hand info so if someone actually knows for sure please chime in.
Yes, the only way to see if your bike is up to date is to physically have it plugged into at the dealer and scanned.
If a new update is available it will tell you.
Hi guys,
thanks for all those informations.
Somebody ever tried a FMF fatty paired with the stock silencer? Or can somebody just tell how does the fatty increases the power curve?
Seems like it offers more mid and top without taking away bottom end power?
The Fatty Helped across there board imo. Eventually I am gonna do dyno tests comparing some stuff but ECU tuning is currently a roadblock.
I just had the software update last weekend and immediately went riding. I did not feel any changes in the fueling at all. My bike now has 15 hours on it and I just swapped out the stock chain and sprockets for a Renthal o-ring chain and twin ring 50t rear. The stock sprockets were shark finning and the chain was at max adjustment. The bike feels a lot closer in 2nd and 3rd. The hare scrambles I’m racing this bike in, 2nd was too low and 3rd was too high in the tighter stuff. This bike rips in the pasture sections
Also had the 6500 kit installed with Race Tech gold valved rear shock and SDI bladder. This bike feels like a trophy truck in the pasture sections.
I have had one major get off that knocked me out for a minute or so and the bike took some damage to the number plate mount on the triple clamp. It’s a little piece of plastic that holds the hour meter also. That thing is backordered until April so my number plate is held on with zip ties right now. Overall, this bike is a serious woods weapon.
If you can figure out a way to mount the Hour Meter, you can mount the older numberplate via the hole in the front of the tripleclamp. I started to explore it some in order to use the older numberplate but abandoned the idea due to time.
Good info! Thank you!
Pit Row
you can remove the little plastic mounting bracket and mount the hour-meter with a washer to take up the space of the bracket. I mounted mine in the left hole (there are 3 threaded holes in top triple clamp face). Make sure to zip-tie the wires in a nice way to hold everything together without binding, since the original mounting bracket was nice for holding the wires. You can then use the older style front number plate in the center threaded hole. I also broke/cracked the little mounting tab on the back of the new style front number plate, it seems pretty fragile to be damaged in a small crash - sucks if you have graphics installed.
Are you running the stock sx tank still? I found an IMS 2.8g but after putting it on I thought it looked terrible so I quickly removed it and sold it. I bought an xc tank for mine, the oem cap is on backorder but you can use one of the tusk billet ones that fit the xcw tank w/o issue. I haven't ridden mine yet since installing the tank. I did the sumter national enduro couple weeks ago and ran the SX tank. My wife chased me so I just topped off after every section to be safe, it wasn't needed though.
I replaced the stock mx chain with a new DID KTM XCW chain and 50T rear before riding mine, I like the sx gearing offroad myself. I had no problems at the enduro.
Mine is the XC. The XC tank is plenty for a 2 hour Hare Scramble at my Senior B pace. I did screw up the stock cap the first time I took it off so I bought one of the KTM hard parts billet caps. No issues at all. I think if I were to pick up the pace and run a good A speed for 2 hours, I might be cutting it close on fuel.
FTR guy here. Ride a loop here in north Florida with some other Senior A guys. We did an hour and 18 minutes last weekend. 300xc was on fumes, my 350xc had half a tank. 300 is a great bike, it burns some fuel though!
Dumb question, but do the dealerships charge for MAP updates? I wish there was a system other than calling the dealership with a VIN to see if there is any new updates. This is common enough, it should not be that annoying.
Depends on the dealer, mine doesn’t..also, the only way to see if there is an update is to plug it in, just calling them with your vin doesn’t matter.
Since I have a high volume dealer, I have them call me if one comes out after they plug a sold bike in and it registers if there is a map update.
has anyone put on a phathead racing head on their 300 yet?
What a beautiful machine. KTM should copy your bike for the 300SX Factory Edition.
Finally got my TX all dialed in. Hope to finally get to ride it next weekend.
Please update once you run a tank through the XC tank on the SX. They use different pumps, but I believe the only difference is the fuel level indication. Been wanting to order an XC tank for my SX, but no ones been able to confirm yet...
Luke and I are actually testing today for the new 250/300 phathead.
