it's not available yet...but, as far as MS goes, nobody in their right mind switches when they first put it on the market.

Most IT groups wait until it's field tested before upgrading. Based on history, 7 will probably be a significant upgade. MS goes in cycles. Windows 3.0 was a big jump...then they "fixed" the major issues with 3.1. Then you waited and waited. Win 98 and ME came out. Nothing special. Then XP hits and it's a major upgrade. Vista looks like a reformat of the interface, but not much different to me. Now, with 7, I'm guessing it's either a fix of Vista or a rework. Either way, it's probably a good upgrade over Vista, but don't be too quick to jump until it's field tested and they issue the first major patch.

Oh, and Void will be along to say Linux, and half a dozen others will tell you to spend 2 grand on a Mac.

I have a copy of it here on my desk and our IT guy has been running it for a while now. He says there are a few bugs but nothing major. Mostly with Auto cad which I don't use.

I downloaded it numerous times and couldn't get it to install, so I gave up.

If you do install that release candidate that was available, it will only work til June next year, then you will have to buy a boxed final edition.

I would try it if I could, but only on a secondary machine, not one that you'd use every day.

Two grand on a Mac?

Weird, I have a 24in 2.8ghz processor, 500gb hard drive with 4 gb of ram and I only paid 1399.00 for it.

My mac is badass, I couldn't imagine how bad ass a two grand model is.... Care to tell me?

Btw, a $1000.00 dollar imac is a no brainer over a 600.00 dollar PC any day of the week. It is all about quality of life!

how about fuck you for an excuse?

Shove your imac up your ihole?

I don't give a shit what you use or what the prices are. Typical Mac dipshit thinks he's got to defend his religion the moment someone makes a comment. I have no fucking idea what the prices are today on Macs other than you can buy a laptop at Best Buy with the same hardware and running MS OS for 1/2 the price of a MAC at best buy. Go be a douche somewhere else.

LOL, so what did we learn here?

txmxer makes a comment about the price of something, once he is called out on it he uses an excuse that is then rebutted, thus resulting in him going into a rage about not knowing the prices that he commented on.

BUT, to make it better he knows he can go to "Best Buy" and buy a laptop with the same hardware running MS for 1/2 the price... This was after admitting he doesn't know Mac prices. Why because he saw an ad from Microsoft saying so, maybe?

Btw, you started this by making your first statement. Maybe you should STFU on stuff you don't know about? Or atleast research it a little bit before going ape shit!!!

I didn't change my stance on something or go off in another direction instead of answering the question.

Just the fact that most believe that THEIR choice is the ONLY choice...

I didn't say they remind me of Obama himself... Wink

I bought a mac pro desktop. Refurbished for about $3700 bucks a couple of years ago. I couldn't get anything from DELL or anywhere else with the same performance specs for any cheaper. 3 Ghz Xeons ain't cheap. Nor is the ability to load it up with 32GB of RAM.

Well, i managed to hit your specs within 3 minutes on dell's site. Fact is, you could still build a beefier workstation for less EVERYTIME using off the shelf components and doing it yourself.

Oh, and about windows 7, yes it runs well and is a superb update to the vista generation of windows. Get your your kid in college to buy a copy for you from their university store, $30 coming next month

ha...what we've learned is the point I made was exactly right. Some Mac douchebag would be along pretty quickly to try and say how great the system is.

As far as the prices, I was in BB on Sunday and I saw laptop prices...

I've seen desktop prices, but not recently. I guess trying to be honest by acknowledging that I haven't checked prices lately on desktops was too much for you?

Now, you can tell me why I should spend 2x the money for the same computer just to run OS X? I guess, if you are incompetent, you need a Mac so your system doesn't crash all the time. Personally, I've been building and running PC's since the 80's and never had a major problem.

Did have a Apple shit it's pants in a lab I worked in while in college.

If I wanted to debate technology and price, I'd choose to put up a Linux box against anything from any of the big players. It can run circles around MS or mac.

But, dirty asked about Windows 7...and I made an off handed comment that in general proved to be completely correct...somebody would try to hijack the thread with Mac talk.
