Gutted that monster energy honda seems to have no real answer this year, due to back luck and riser crashes. I wonder if they'll even be there next year as the husq/ ktm/ gas gas group just look unbeatable with their lineup

What a crazy race...these guys are insane...

Toby has ridden a smart race ,  tomorrows is a big stage that may decide if , I would be happy with either of them winning but will back the Aussie

No doubt Toby is the favorite ant this point…he’s a beast!  And I’d be happy if he won the thing…he deserves it, that’s for sure.  But gotta root for the local boy, ya know?

Skyler was 5 seconds faster than Toby through the first way point.

Looks like Toby beat Skyler by about a minute today.

Damn I love and hate that big Aussie almost equally.

One more day to go, anything can still happen but Toby is looking good for his hat trick Dakar win. He’s on record saying he’ll walk away from bike for 4 wheels if he does. Dudes a legend either way.

I wasn’t actually expecting Toby to be at this level this year. He’s been doing quite a lot on four wheels for awhile now…..

Should have known to never underestimate him.

It will be a shame to see him stop racing bikes. is there more money in cars?

What I find crazy is half the bike riders refuse to do the Finke Desert Race here in Australia, TP87 has asked several riders to come down and do it.

It’s not about the money, more age and a new challenge I’d reckon.

Well, it’s 12 seconds between Toby and Big Kev headed into tomorrow.

unreal.

The last stage is traditionally just a gentleman’s cruise to the finish because the time gaps are so big. This year we are going to have two Factory KTMs to the throttle stop from start to finish. Some throttle cables ‘bout to get stretched the fuck out fellas!

I hope Toby gets it, drops the mic and walks away a LEGEND.

What does the finke pay to win ?

This is just nuts. After 43 hours of racing, to be 12 seconds apart between 1st and second and just 16 minutes between the top 5 is just insane. For context, that's like a 20 minute supercross going into the final lap with the top 5 separated by 7 seconds and the top two separated by less than 1/10 of a second.

Did you guys see the video of the truck that accidentally hit a spectator? Sadly, the gentleman ended up passing away.

Judging by the onboard cameras there was absolutely nothing the driver could have done to avoid the spectator.

The guy was leading the truck race when it happened. He dedcided to withdraw from the race. I don't blame him. I can't even imagine the mental toll that would take on someone.

$10k from Finke and $10k from the team usually.

Going to be very hard to win with a 12 second lead I think – Needed to either be way out there or rather be a little behind so you get the advantage of following.

If anyone can do it though, it's Toby.

Reverse start for the last stage so Toby is out last.

Oh really? Didn't know that.

Is the last last stage still the processional type thing, ie no passing?

Nope. I think was always just a “gentleman’s agreement” type deal. Stemming from the days when the time gaps were a lot bigger than they are now.

We can expect to see Toby and Big Kev go flat out for one of the most prestigious trophies is motor sports.

Seems to be likely the last time we see Toby on 2 wheels at the highest level too.

Bravo Tobs’. You raised the bar.
