Gotta be Webb, right? He qualified 7th. He was 7th at the start of the main, fell back to 10th by the second lap and passed Ferrandis, Nichols, Plessinger, Anderson, Sexton, Stewart, Roczen and Barcia to take second. He's a dangerous man.
Ferrandis was in 18th at the start, was up to 9th by the second lap, just ahead of Webb and ended up in 4th.
Colt got the holeshot but was shocked back to 8th by the end of the second lap.
Nichols finishing P6 was mighty impressive. I didn't think he'd crack the top ten.
Why would you think he wouldn't be in the top 10?
He is a great rider with a lot of potential. Top 3 rider in 2019
Agree with Nichols 6th. He is on a new brand, after riding 3 different bikes during off season and hasn’t raced in over a year. Feel bad I don’t think he got any tv time or even mentioned during the broadcast. I am sure him and Honda would have been ecstatic with a top 10, especially in those conditions. And brandon I don’t remember Nichols racing the 450 in 2019? Thought he was always an250 guy, where he won a championship the last year he competed, but that was 2021.
Webb was my call for the win when i saw the track in practice, for exactly the reasons we saw. He never qualifies. just gets the track down. and waits for it to come to him.
Ferrandis will make more passes than anyone all year, unless he sorts a start.
Nicolls holeshot was the biggest surprise, but he got stage fright, and recovered well once he got into it .

2 EXCELLENT starts…
From the outside gates!
Dylan's starts have improved.
Heat Race Start:
Nichols and Vohland
Weird, timing and scoring had him 18th off the start. So he actually went from up front back to 9th by the end of the second lap.
Nichols had to be the standout ride. I was excited to see A-Rod after his hiatus. Hope he can build off a solid A1!
Made a mistake and got shuffled back early on and had to make his way back up to the front.
He had a good start in his heat as well.
That photo was from the heat. Roczen and Barcia were up there in the main.
I don't know that Webb is actually a surprise. If people are honest with themselves, regardless of whether you like him or not, they'll acknowledge that Webb is deadly when he is on and the bike is dialed. Yet people keep discounting the 2X SX champ....year after year. WTF is that?
I knew he was "on" in the Friday presser with the "I'm washed up" comment.
Watching Weeges show "post report" he talked about all the fan favorites and then brought up Webb and how no one was cheering when he was making passes. Pretty sad if you ask me. Webb is one of the sports greats.
1) Forkner not even making it to the first corner
1) Nichols in 6th
2) Craig in 13th (expected better)
3) Tomac winning
4) Enzo Lopes in 6th
5) Star Yamaha riders finishing in the "back"
FYI, I don't know if Webb is that big of a surprise considering he got 2nd at A1 last year also...
Anderson and Craig for me
I really thought Anderson would come out firing, I know he had a crash during the day, but he just didn’t look like himself out there.
I didn’t even see Christian Craig.
