How did it work out for you and how long did you continue to vape?
i was a chronic smoker for 13 years and finally decided enough was enough so I switched to vaping…I know it can be considered kind of douchey but my lungs are already thanking me after just a week and the whole family is being very supportive.
i would like to quit this as well by dropping nicotine level slowly until I can just put it down
what was your experience like?
Best of luck, man. I’ve never been a smoker but from what I’ve heard there is a condition called “popcorn lung” that can be a result of vaping too much. Just be careful and do some research. You’ve already taken the first step.
I’ve got a can a day of Copenhagen habit. Can’t help!
Thanks I appreciate that
Popcorn lungs is caused by a certain chemical that was used in the flavored liquids but it’s not used in most liquids anymore. Always gotta check though
Glad to hear that. You can do this
I’m sure you’ve already noticed the substantial savings from quitting.

Absolutely brother vaping is a way better temporary alternative. Great to use to help quit smoking.
you will get addicted to the vape, but of course it’s the nicotine you are addicted to.
When you are ready, just start dropping the nicotine level down. You will eventually get it down to zero. And after a few weeks on zero you will quit.
Good luck! Don’t go back to smoking. Definitely use the vape.
Slightly off topic but I used the patch to quit a smoking and it worked really well,Sept was 6 years smoke free.
That how I quit. It's worked better than other methods as it allowed me to continue in the routine I had with smoking until I was simply tired of the routine.
I researched what went into vape liquids and other than the flavorings the main ingredients are simply Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol. Both of which I was able to source at my local pharmacy. So rather than paying the same price for the lower strength vape liquids I just kept the same strength I started with and thinned them out with the main ingredients that contained no nicotine.
For a couple of months I was just vaping unflavored liquid with no nicotine in it. At some point during that time I just lost interest in the whole "let's go outside for a smoke" routine. Saved a bunch of cash on the expensive vape liquids and passed along the stuff I had left over to a buddy who used it to quit too.
Good luck quitting. It took me a few tries to get it right, but this method was the easiest on me and has been the most effective.
Grizzly Fine Cut for me. We’re both fu**ed.
Yes Sir, been gutting it for years on top of it.
Do they still have the pouches that aren’t supposed to be as bad as the regular dip?
Driving in a box van one night I reached over and grabbed my drink...it turned out to be my colleague's spitter...
I'm still struggling to quit. At work I'll hardly think of a smoke as I'm focused on what I'm busy with.
Some days I get by on 5 smokes....
It's a continuous fight and each time I lite up I feel guilty.
I'm on the gum which helps.
Good luck to you all and Chance..and Mutt..the thought of your spitter gets my gut turning
Fuck... Years ago, I accidentally grabbed my own spitter since it was next to my water bottle and, I was driving in the dark. Chug, chug. I couldn’t get the car window down fast enough.
Puked all over the side window and, myself.
Now, I make sure I am not using the same bottles as I refuse to make that mistake again.
Man, that was horrible.
Yeah. A couple guys at work chew pouches. Camel Snus. I tried it a couple times but, it just tastes like gum. Gets rid of the edge though. It’s nice if you are on a flight, as you don’t have to spit with those.
Nicotine gum or patches I would guess is your best best, Maybe get some Tiparillos or something you don't light up to go along with it. maybe the nicotine combined with the smell of the tobacco, will get you off the vapes.
Ok, makes sense. You may find this amusing. Back in the 80s, me along with two buddies of mine went to a Rush concert and one of our buddies drank his ass off and then decided that would be a good time to dip. As I understand it, that’s when the desire hits after you’ve been drinking or whatever. Well we are 1/3 of the way into the concert and look over and my man is paralyzed. Comatose, out to lunch whatever you wanna call it. Apparently, he swallowed his dip. So we escorted him out of the arena like someone probably did in Iwo Jima. Man fucking down. He felt terrible the next day but at least we have some stories to tell
Forgive me Chatmore, I just read your thread title.
I bought a bunch of Vapes a few years back but ultimately ended up back in the smokes. Maybe I shoukd have given Vapes more time and tried stronger blends...more nicotine.
It's all a waste of money while killing ourselves slowly.
I quit via a spontaneous pneumothorax of my right lung and spent two weeks in the ICU trying to get the lung to hold air. I smoked a pack a day for 25 years. That was 10 years ago, to this day I still need something in my hand to take the place of the cigarette (usually one of those floss picks). I also still like the smell of a cigarette, most people that quit say they can't stand the smell.
I had some friends who quit by using Chantix, a couple talked about crazy dreams.
For the price of a pack of smokes these days you could make a nice bike payment if you smoked as much as I did.
I hope you kick the habit; I know it's tuff. Good luck.

Ideally I would just go cold turkey but I’ve tried that twice with no luck so gonna give this a fair shot. If I can get off the smokes completely and put the vape down within a year I’ll be happy
3rd times the charm I think my biggest motivator is being able to ride longer and of course not dying in my 50s……
This is exactly the problem. " From what I've heard"
"popcorn" lung is a potential issue if you vape the wrong stuff. But it seems to be the first thing the media grabs onto.
I am a vaper and make my own juice and KNOW what is going into my vape, but we have to cater/dumb ourselves to the lowest denonominator.
You eat a lot when you stop smoking so eat a lot of good foods. Pushing some weights helps as well. Bulking a controlled fat helps a lot to stay calm. I was going mental when I stopped smoking. Worst part to handle.
Well crikey, I didn’t know that and appreciate the info. I figured it was best to at least mention one of the dangers involved. Are you trying to quit as well?
Those things are terrible, the taste isn’t good.
I put the cigarettes down about 18 months ago after smoking a pack or more a day.
Smoked from basically the day I turned 20, until 3 days before I turned 30.
Vaping is significantly cheaper and far more convenient. No shortness of breath, no smell, no film on windows of vehicle.
As “douchey” as vaping is, I still enjoy it and don’t feel trapped like I did with cigarettes. When I wanted to quit cigarettes I felt like that was impossible. With this I don’t feel so much that way at all.
I quit my bad habits cold turkey by just telling myself, I used to...
It's always worked for me, you're a lot stronger than you think, all you have to do is decide now is the time
I did it after smoking for decades. I just started on the lowest nicotine % from the start. Been 10 months and have had zero interest in cigarettes. Many friends of mine still do smoke and when I'm around them I have no craving to start again. One of the best things I have done is quit smoking.
Exactly! Did you notice a difference on the bike? When I was smoking I felt like I could work out all I wanted and not gain near as much stamina as I should have
back in the late 90's we went to the US Open in Vegas, i got drunk and decided to try a dip. i was comatose but it was because the dip put me over the edge. i literally couldn't move i was so fucked up.
happened to me a couple years ago camping. was pretty tipped over and decided to try an edible. i didn't move out of my chair for about 2.5 hours. i couldn't talk, i couldn't move, nothing. i hated it so bad i won't touch an eddie if i've been drinking.
on to the OP, my sister used a vape to quit smoking and it worked really well. she vaped for about 5 years but eventually quit that too. now she has a medicinal card so she still smokes but it's the green stuff. good luck quitting, terrible habit.
You KNOW what those synthetic liquids that are made in a lab are? How? Or are you somehow growing Vape liquids in your garden?
I wish the best for all those trying to quit, whatever it takes, but I've just never understood how smoking a synthetic liquid that is made in a lab can somehow be considered any better for you that just smoking a cigarette?
I tried a few of the vape cartridges with weed in them because you can puff going down the road without making your car smell like weed.....they hurt my throat 10x more than any weed smoked straight ever did.
YMMV
My wife's cousin got super sick ,puking and shitting. He ended up losing 30 pounds ,finally on his 3rd trip to the ER the doctor working asked if he vaped. Turns out he was the 18th person he saw with the same symptoms who used a vape pen. He since quit and got back to normal.
Post a reply to: Those of you that quit smoking with vaping..
