Does anyone remember the track championships that Budds Creek awarded in 1976 -77 time frame? I thought they gave the points leader for each class a "Black Knights" award. I have tried to remember or find out more about this with no luck. I was leading the 125 B class points and the track closed down late in the season and did not give the award like in prior years. They re-opened the next year with some changes to the track.... added some drop off style jumps, more man made stuff.

I saw a thread on old Maryland pics and it made me think about it again.

Never heard of it before but I did my 1st race at Budds in 76......the start was at the top of the hill near where the bike wash is now. Remember the water crossing? Good times!

Do you still ride?

I am not familure where the bike wash is, but when I first raced there the start was on top of the same hill where the finish line was for years (not at 2009 National). The fist turn was near the now day rythem section. Later the start was moved back the track to the now days pits area (closer to the red barn).

Yeah I still ride, after my youngest boy started riding in 2002 I rode his bike now & then and still loved it. He has since moved out starting a family, so I picked up a YZ 250 2-stroke.

That was my favorit track by far!

The start was next to the upper pits, not to far from the scoring tower. Rubber band start that i got a hell of a welt from.
