Well, after a week and a half i got the mri report...dislocated bicep tendon, glenoid labrum tear, maybe a anterium labrum tear (was that way a year ago with original injury). I even rode this past sunday and did not feel too bad. Now i guess the fun begins. Will see ortho hopefully in a day or two and find a course of action. Any one had the bicep tendon tear? All i know is this aint the end...it just sucks.

You're the only one that can answer that but best of luck with your situation. I tried to watch the motos you were in at Loretta's and was disappointed when I didn't see you out there later in the week and found out what happened.

ummm...no?

Having had my shoulder repaired (and it wasn't as bad as yours sounds), I can't imagine riding with all that. Mine would fall out of socket on it's own fairly regularly. Did it once landing off a drop away. Was fortunate to get the bike stopped and get it set back into place.

Take care of yourself Kevin. You'll have other chances to ride once you get this sorted out.

For sure let some time heal it. I have a 3rd degree AC seperation right now 2 weeks into it. I can do pretty much everything but it is definitly not worth it. As much as I hate to admit that my season is pretty much done with, it is.

You know that depends who you ask.

I think you should spray some engine ice on it....

Seriously, get healed up right and be sure there are no long term ill effects because of some "feel good" bike time now.

Good luck.

Thanks for the report, Kevin. Hope all goes well with the recovery process. You stated in a earlier post that you were not the parts man at your shop anymore. What's up, new job at new location? Hang in there and allow God to work in and through you.

Take your time, and get the tendon fully healed before you get back to racing. This is the type of injury that one additional trauma on that shoulder system can really make for some difficult repair by compounding your movement issues. Go slow now to go fast...later.

Thanks for the update! Do you happen to know if the biceps injury was proximal or distal? Since you were able to ride, hopefully it was a proximal injury since that is a much easier repair and usually leads to very little, if any, loss of function.

Good luck with your recovery!

So does the repaired one work well?
I have been putting up with one for years now but it seems to be getting worse with age.
The dang thing came out on the golf course last year and that was embarrassing.

The good thing is the shoulder itself is tight and still strong. Just the tendon from the bicep is torn. Movement and stability is as good as before. Just weak in one area of the bicep. But will for sure get it fixed. Gonna see my ortho and have sent all mri and details from past dislocation and this bicep tendon to dr. ting in san fran also. He is the Fox team athlete dr. Will know soon. Riding it felt strong and put in some good laps which made me feel better about it until the results showed up. I'm sure that if i fell on it it would not be as strong as i thought, but it did feel good to be back on the track.Cool

helluva a lot better than it was before the surgery!

I have always had a lot of shoulder issues since my teen years. The time it popped out riding was before my big crash (which was really just a simple high side). Anyway, after the dustoff, I couldn't even lift my arm without it falling out of socket. Fortunately, it was so loose it would fall back into socket just as easily.

I thought it was like all my previous D/Ls. I gave it time and it got better. But, any unusual strain and it would pop out. It was tight at this point, so the sublexation and subsequent reseting it was more painful. I tried to mount a horse once and it popped out. That's when I knew I had to get it fixed. I would never be able to trust it riding if I couldn't even get on a horse.

So, long story short: it's much better today. Is it good as new? No. I did and still do some exercises for it. I think if you are really dedicated to the rehab, it can be nearly as good as new.

Good luck Larry and Kevin. KW--you are kind of a folk hero to all us wanna be never was guys. Keep on doing your thing.

Sounds like a good plan Kevin. I predict some arthroscopy in your future, but hopefully will result in a fully functional shoulder.....

Scroll to this bottom of this page and you can see a quick video of an arthroscopic biceps tenodesis. There is also a lot of great info for the procedure on the rest of the page.

Good luck Kevin!

I had my AC Joint surgery / graft back in 89. Has been good ever since. Just take it easy and get 100% healed prior to any hard motoing....

Nothing worse than going down and re-injuring your shoulder....

EID says to use some Windex.... I say go with the Lucas Oil Heavy Duty Stabilizer... Tongue

Good luck with your Shoulder...!
