The Japanese OEMs could offer either a 350 kit or ideally provide an actual motorcycle instead of another year of Factory Editions. The OEMs investment in tooling has to be covered by now so how about branching out and giving the riding community what they're asking for?

That would be awesome, but I doubt we're that lucky.

I appreciate your loyalty, but this is a different spin. BTW you have to have the record for being here for 12 years and only started four threads.but 5600 plus replies. Remind me again please what your screen name was before GrapeApe?

You can’t offer a 350 kit. It requires a new engine. A 450 sleeved down would have none of the positive traits of a 350.

2007 CRF450 but hasn't seen much usage in the last six years due to work and back issues. If I ever have the time to train, I hope I can work my way back to riding but have other priorities at the moment. Dream bike is 300cc two stroke.

What do you ride?

Start with a 250 for a 300 or 310. 250 big bores are vibration prone but the right builder can do it.

Agree one thousand percent but it doesn't cost anything to dream. How crazy is it that the general consensus is 450s are too much, especially for SX but year after year, the OEMs keep building 450s? Wouldn't be great that before the OEM electric bikes come out, they'd finally get it right and offer 350s?

Or the Japanese OEMs can keep sitting on their hands while KTM sells 350s like hot cakes.

As you correctly point out I've been here 12 years with one screen name, not 12 days. What would possibly lead you to believe that 13 years ago I had a different screen name? This is the second time in a week you've "accused" me of having a different screen name 13 years ago, very strange.

Edit: I was threefive at Bushwood, so technically you're right.

Op is begging for a 350 but doesn't ride anymore... Makes sense.

Why do they do a "factory edition" 450 instead of a 350? Isn't the answer simply that the factory edition is easy to produce since they already make a 450. A 350 is a whole different engine. To suggest doing x instead of y implies that x and y are comparable, which is not the case here.

Thanks for confirming I was right. I thought I recognized your style from bushwood but associated it with someone else not threefive. Appreciate your edit. Peace out.

You answered a question that wasn't asked plus I never implied it would be simple. Anyway, if KTM can provide a 300 kit for their 250 two strokes, the OEMs could try to step it up with at least a 300cc four stoke kit since less expense to tool up for than a 350.

You asked: 350s instead of Factory Editions for 2024? That's what i took myself to be answering. What am I missing?

You can get a 300 kit for every 250f out there. Man the density around here is immense.

It’s because we the consumer is not their target. It’s our wallets. So until we stop purchasing every 450 that gets produced each year, and start only buying 250/350s, they will keep building 450s and 250s

Because the questions you’re asking already have answers.
