My wife wants to go to San Felipe for 3 days for the 1000. (How's that for a keeper lol) We used to go and camp but this year were in the TRD and hoteling it. Simple simple no muss no fuss. Anyone going or have any idea wich hotels are nicer than others ? Not concerned with $ so much, just don't want to wind up in a shitbox Laughing Any ideas ? Team Green ? Anyone ? Close enough to town to walk to the main drag on the beach where the restaraunts are would be ideal

I think you’re going to have a hard time finding accommodations anywhere near the race, unfortunately. Hopefully I’m wrong.

I hope you're wrong too Laughing Laughing I found quite a few places that said sold out but still a lot that were available. At least on the internet Laughing We're still 2 weeks out so we shall see. We've always camped but this year we want simple. No cooking, no tanks to dump, no big thing to drive around, no setting up camp, easy access to anywhere in the truck, no cleanup when we get home. Just me, Sue, the dog and the truck. Easier the better.Cool

Edit: and the cooler of course

Have fun down there!

I have such a love/hate relationship with this race. On one hand....its completely fricken bad ass and I love the characters who are able to harness all the skills to succeed down there. On the other hand....it took my childhood hero (Danny Hamel) and a dear, dear friend from me (KC66) and I have a hard time going "all in" on it and sometimes wish they'd just do away with the bikes racing there before we lose another hero.

Literally not a day goes by that I don't wish Kurt hadn't got bit by the Baja bug and he would just stayed in the US/Rally....fuck I miss that guy.

Maybe someday I should take another trip down there and see if I can find that Baja Magic again.

Good luck and safe travels to everyone involved.

Is that the place with the balcony's that look like they're just hanging out in space ? That place looks a little sketchy Laughing

* Mods I guess I should have put this in the offroad section, I'm not sure how to move it. (If you think it's necessary have at it) Cool

I don't know if the place I'm thinking of is the cortez or not ? When you said "South end of town" I pictured the multi story building at the south end of the "malecon" I guess ?. When we first started going down there in the early 90's that building was under construction, the "Patios" looked like they were made of concrete and stuck out without any visible means of support. We thought it looked like they were sagging already and the building wasn't even finished yet. I'll see if I can find a picture

I was thinking of the white building with the arched windows. That place looked scary when it was under construction

This is where I’m thinking of…(your hotel is just east of it)

Down in Valle T currently, a whole bunch of bikes pre-running. Good luck and be safe all who are competing, chasing and spectating!

It was pretty awesome for the 301x team to pull off a 1st in class in their first campaign. I was hoping they would just finish, but to win in class was so rad!

If you’ve never been to the 1000 and witnessed it in person, it should be added to your bucket list if you are even remotely a Motörhead. The trophy trucks are just unreal to see in person.

Besides helping my buddies with logistics, mechanical support, driving, pit duties, I was blessed to met and talk to Ricky Johnson. Yes, the Bad Boy himself, around 4 am Saturday morning at the finish line while waiting* for my road dog Corin from the 301x team to bring it home.

Hopefully we will be back next year to try and defend the Pro 30 title.

First time in Baja for me and my brother on the 319x team and we’re both absolutely hooked. Fingers crossed next year spares us some mechanical issues, no doubt we’ll have a killer time regardless.
