I'm curious to learn what the proper way of cleaning/resealing a valve cover is. Does anybody have tips?

I'm a rookie to engine related tasks but I'm slowly learning some tasks to improve my skill set. I replaced the cam chain tensioner on my 2021 KTM 350 SX-F with a Dirt Tricks unit, and checked the valve clearance while I was in there. I had zero issues with the install, however I just want to know the proper way to clean and seal the valve cover. Especially around the half moon shapes. I realize that less is more when it comes to the gasket maker so I'll definitely only do a light dusting. Thanks in advance.

Carefully… use a razor. Once you get it started usually it can be pulled off as a string.

Refer to the manual and don't follow, haha!
I struggled with my KTM 250sxf until I bought a new vlave cover gasket and used Yamabond gasket maker in the same pattern shown in the owners manual.
