Love my Honda for the most part but what’s the best mod to get more low end mostly right off idle, I’ve tried different gearing and it doesn’t seem to matter it still has a flat spot holeshot in second gear is shitty it’s a terd out of the gate and don’t wanna use first cause it doesn’t pull for more then about 30’ seems like, I have but that first shift is hard and I lose time there too.

Is a remap gonna help enough ? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

I’m a cheap ass so hate wasted money on pointless mods lol.

Did you remove the filter screen? I believe there is an aftermarket filter screen called the power flow kit.

1) Open up the airbox.....
2) get rid of the backfire screen....
3) go up a tooth or two on gearing....
4) get the mapping fine tuned

I know exactly what you are looking for because my crf450 is exactly that now. TDR in Ohio (big in the quad engine modification world) has a dyno tuned map for stock ECU that hits hard and revs to the moon. The price was reasonable and 1 day turnaround. Super crisp mapping

I haven’t done it on this bike since it’s part of the airbox, usually I do lol

Get the ECU tuned by Twisted Development or XPR. Stock gearing is fine. 2nd gear starts rip holies. Bike rips holies stock too...

Throw away shot I took at the last OTHG National (a week ago). 30+ intermediate guys on Hondas 1st, 3rd, and 4th off an uphill start:

My personal '22 has the ECU tuned by TD and I'm running an Akrapovic exhaust. Bike is extremely strong, yet SMOOTH. Absolutely fun ripper now. Just sad I can't ride for 9 months now (ACL reconstruction yesterday).

In my experience, when lugging the engine, the traction control tends to kick in very aggressively. Strange but true. I had the same issue rolling through some corners..felt like the engine was flat (electronically limited). I learned to get the RPMs up slightly and the issue went away.

Never had a lack of power in starts with proper launch RPMs. Just the opposite. More difficult to manage wheelie vs traction.

Athena GET sells a Wi-Fi connector that lets you program your factory ecu with your phone. Just like their full ecu systems, similar to Yamaha’s tuner.

It works fantastic, allowing changes to both fuel and ignition based on rpm as well as throttle position.
