And he blamed it on the track worker?
It seems a bit far fetched to me, he didn't seem angry when he got up!

He didn't blame the person, he said he got momentarily distracted. You guys are idiots if you don't think a distraction like this can happen and cause him to miss his normal line. He's human for gods sake. He saw something, was distracted and yes, it contributed to his falling.

Yes he did blame them- motocross is fuuull of distractions way bigger than this one- I'm also pissed about your comment calling every one idiots- the PHOTOGRAPHER did what thirty other photographers did all day- typical James, nothing is ever his fault- ps. your avatar sucks...

Off the jump first thing I see is someone on the track right in front. If you have ever ridden with a GoPro you know this view is twice as close and a hell of a lot faster in rear time. That person crossing the track should be kicked in the nuts every day just to remind him of how stupid he is.

Looks to me like he was well clear and down the track from the track worker when he crashed. James you did what you do best(ride over your head and crash) don't blame the track worker.

If you can go around a track with 39 other bikes (especially off the start) and not get distracted or hit them as you pass or lap them but a track worker on the other side of the track from your pre determined line messes you up I have serious questions to ask. Better not bring any airhorns to the nationals anymore. Might distract people!

Your all lucid 39 other riders your not concerned about taking out or hitting but a civilian in the middle of the track is a problem.. Bottom line any one can be a flagger at any track wtf was the retard doing out there in the first place.. An second of course he's not gonna be pissed he's hurt for one and more focused on getting up an back into the race.. Matured champions are composed and don't lose their cool..

Watch the second video closely at 23-25 seconds. As he leaves the face of the jump that guy is pretty much directly in from of him. Never had it happen to me, but I would have to think it would probably startle me since its not the same as a bike. When he lands and is next to guy he cross ruts and swaps. Thats where the crash starts. Second 25-26 show the swap being stopped by catching a rut.

If you pay attention to his body position and how it offsets his weight you'll notice how its making the bike want to turn a tighter radius than the rut he's in. The front wheel can't hold it because the suspension was not settled when the bike caught the rut.

What does everyone think? Let's actually analyze the crash. Crashes don't usually don't end in exactly the place they start unless your going really slow or casing a jump.

C'mon people, the "track worker" more like track wanker is clearly in the wrong. What kind of moron runs across the track behind a jump as riders are approaching. Alot of you guys need to feel the reaction of some one being on the track in the way when you r in the air. For that split second he would have tensed his arms in a bracing reaction caused him to not be loose & hit the rut at the base of the jump with his front wheel clean causing the eventual crash.

Nobodys fault, track worker or photographer crossed the track like they always do maybe surprising james considering he was airborne but it happens more often than people think. I'ts happened to me, probably happened to all of you, and it happened to him. If he wouldnt have cross rutted nobody would've thought twice about the track worker/photographer. Point being shit happens.

I agree with what you said and it's not like the guy directly caused the crash but he probably had an indirect affect on the situation. When people cross the track in front of you, you take notice and get distracted. You don't crash because of it, but it can mess you up slightly. When you're going this fast, "slightly" can turn into a crash. Either way it came down to James and the crash is still on him.
The biggest problem I see, is that this type of situation shouldn't happen at this level of racing. It's kind of like a referee running in front of players during the super bowl.. It can screw things up haha. But that's not to say that its never happened, because I'm sure it has. So the AMA just has to make sure it doesn't happen again.
For the people who compare this to riders down on the track, it's actually a lot different. One, yellow flags will warn you of a situation ahead. Two, you don't have to worry about the people behind you because there is no passing. Three, we don't know what was going through James' head when he saw the guy. He was probably trying to figure out what the guy was doing on the track. Normally when there are people it's because of a down rider, so maybe he began to look around for that. I'm just saying that he could have been distracted by this guy for more than just a second like many people are assuming.
