Earlier you mentioned it's twice the amount of work. It's not like when they flip coasts these guys are taking the entire week off. They are still working the entire time training and riding.

Just to play devils advocate some more. Do teams not pay the riders a salary when they miss time due to injury? It's similar to the logic you're saying. A rider is hurt for 5 rounds why would a team continue to pay them a salary during that time?
Depends on the contract. Most contracts do not pay when a rider is hurt and at minimum reduce pay. I see your counter points I just...
Depends on the contract. Most contracts do not pay when a rider is hurt and at minimum reduce pay. I see your counter points I just don’t think they are valid. You are asking guys to travel 9 more weekends out the year. Do the guys train on off weeks? Of course, but they don’t have to fly, they don’t have to race or ride on the weekend. It really baffles me y’all don’t understand this.

No I get it I just don't see how it is twice as much work. The work is put in during the week for the most part. Is it more work? Yes but not twice as much work.
Well I’m getting repetitive at this point but we can agree to disagree.

The point everyone is missing is that by eliminating the coasts and having it one series will mean there is no reason for the teams to keep the number of riders they have....so there would be fewer rides and fewer mechanics thus fewer jobs...not sure why people are having a hard time understanding that....

What you just said quite frankly has nothing to do with the discussion me and LouisianaMotocross were having that you quoted. It wasn't about the number of riders, mechanics or jobs.

Ok let’s follow this logic. The number one best scenario for any race series is having more top talent. Year after year the 250 SX class has been half the available talent racing at a given time….by choice! That’s the exact opposite of what you want to make your series better. A better more exciting series should increase viewership increase sponsorship increase money available for the teams. This is a professional sport not a charity event. If you want to run it just to create jobs then split the 450s up into coasts too. That sounds asinine right?

I like removing the point out system. If you win a title, one year to defend then forced to 450. Everyone else can race whatever class they would like. I think this makes the most sense.

I agree, but neither got to defend. Also, it hasn't happened in a while, but if some 16 year old kid came in and won in his first two years he would have to go to 450s at age 18. I know RC said he always regretted not staying another year on the small bike. But the trend also doesn't seem like kids turn pro until they are like 18-20.

It might be three years. The only thing they are talking about removing is the point out.
It's 4 seasons.
If you win in one of you first 3 seasons. You can race a maximum of 4 seasons.
If u win your 4th season. U have the "option to defend the next year". The reason colt an j-coop are out. U don't get another year. U have the option to defend. And they didn't take it for obvious reasons.
If u win 2 titles you can race a maximum of 3 seasons.

It seems like a good rule change. You should not be forced out on points if you cant win 250 championship. Who cares it a rider gets 2nd or 3rd multiple times, if you win 2 championships you are clearly ready to move up and there should be a good spot ready for you on a 450.

Meh....but what if you're wrong...but seriously the only thing the manufacturers are interested is championships and if you cut those in half they will cut their teams in half...this industry will not support one single 250 championship with the same support as two...that's just a fact...

National level racing should be full national level racing with full seasons, and no pushing riders out when they’re successful. Let AX and the amateur national series be the feeders. So now we just need two more changes, ditch the regional split BS and drop the 2x champ gets the boot rule.

Let’s see.. it took how long for the first rule change? 20+ years? I truly don’t remember.. so another 40 years and we’re gonna have a real 250SX championship!!

What’s your plan for riders who make a career out of AX?
Let them race AX as long as they want. And if a rider wants to make the big show, they should be able to finish good enough in AX to get noticed. Same with the amateur nationals.

We had 3 full national championship classes for years in MX. Some guys were just better on one displacement than the others and it didn’t cause any problems.

The regional championship is a great idea, for the amateur series. Let the pro series be full seasons with the best riders, no sharing the small bore title.

Once again they race outdoors as well. One series. All the rounds all the riders. The 250 SX titles no one counts them on a racer’s championship totals. I think if it’s one series they would count them just like outdoors 250 titles count.
