Moto in Mississippi

Hey guys. Just moved to diamondhead, Mississippi..what's the Moto scene like here? Doesn't seem to be one...thinking of buying some land and building a track(races, practice,ect)..any help or info would be awesome...expert class racer here,looking to network and find riding and racing buddies as I don't know anyone lol. Thanks.

It seems that you're two hours from Golden Pines, which I think is even for sale. One of the top tracks in this part of the country IMO.

Golden Pines isn’t for sale. It was purchased a few months back and the new owners open very often.

Luckily for you, they have a bunch of tracks within a few hours of you.

Wildwood mx- Kentwood, La best track around
Arcola mx-arcola, La good track but not great dirt and easy
The pit mx- Hammond, La same as arcola
Sand lake mx- Franklinton, La full sand track but backyard style
Golden pines- Prentis, ms

I ride 2-3 times a week so feel free to message me and we can meet up. They have other tracks kind of close to you but the one I listed are the closest.

As an expert level rider wildwood mx will be your favorite track more than likely and is only 90mins from you. Golden Pines is fun but it was Purchased by a family who race atv’s and the track prep is pretty mellow as far as watering and cutting it. If you have any questions let me know. I live in Louisiana but the Louisiana and Mississippi mx scene is pretty much together.

Unfortunately, the MS moto scene is nothing like it used to be. You would be better off building your own track and doing your own thing if you have the funds.
Years ago, you could drive up I 59 from Slidell, La to meridian ms and had almost 10 tracks within 2 hours.

Like Louisianamx said, Wildwood would be your best bet. If you go towards Florida, have mx191 in Milton, used to have atmore and lower Alabama mx but they both closed. monster mountain up in tallassee for a longer weekend trip is an amazing track.

Probably moving to Southern MS near my son next year. Golden Pines looks good for my Old Ass.

Right On, ill dig this up a year from now and report my findings. If i cant handle it ill head to the actual intermediate track and or trails. For now i think im good lol. Sounds like you will be just fine riding at Golden Pines or Wildwood MX. “Vet friendly” is a very subjective term but IMO both tracks are safe for all skill levels, just may take a ride day or two for some to get comfy with the sandy base. No jumps are do or die with big gaps and you have options to half jump most everything that is of a larger footprint.

These are the best public tracks from Houston Texas to East Mississippi but that’s just my opinion, you can formulate yours. See ya at the track!

I guess I should elaborate more. All La motocross said it’s not the best vet friendly track and I stated why. I’m not saying the track is dangerous at all. It is a fun track, but if you’re a dude that rides every once in while I could see where it could be intimidating.

How about the Windhams Farm14 track and that Full Throttle MX? Ill be in Ocean Springs so Wildwood and GP look great. Close to 3 hours for me to get to Windhams but will have nothing but time on my hands.

Farm14 only opens to public a few times a year. They had a guy running a practice facility that would open occasionally but he left a few months ago and Kevin hasn’t opened to the public since he took over the training.

Full throttle is very easy track with a hard base as is arcola mx. Fun but beginner/c type tracks.

Only reason I mentioned GP not being a vet friendly track is because you said you were a vet. Although im not a big fan of the jumps(zero pop with the new owners), I more so meant the track wasn’t vet friendly because it’s demanding not dangerous. Lap times are well over 2 minutes and has a lot of sand. As with any track, if you ride within your abilities you will be fine for the most part. I still believe wildwood is much better track than GP but that’s just my opinion and I go to both tracks often.

Also should have mentioned Full Throttle mx is under new management and goes by Pit mx now.

Get in touch with LouisianaMotocross. He knows all the tracks in La/Ms area, and rides them often. He’s also a great guy who really loves the sport. And welcoming and helping others.
