Bummed to see Reedy getting hurt, especially bummed knowing that it wasn't his fault and his bike bogged.

At the same time, this sport can literally ruin your life in the blink of an eye, one has to wonder if it's really worth it at his age with nothing to prove.

Fan and supporter of Reed his entire career, Grant too. But fellas.. let it go..it's ok! Hard to walk away from the limelight but is the risk worth the reward at this point? Enjoy your family's, do it for them.

How is it different from any amateur Vet racer getting out there on the track? The risk vs. reward ratio is ridiculous for an amateur. We risk our lives for bragging rights, basically.

Curious why everyone would say the risk is not worth it. Seems thousands ride for fun and take similar risks. How many of those saying Reed should walk away ride themselves?
Ever watch the news and pay attention to how many people die everyday, why give anything up if its your passion.

Exactly.

My dads secretary used to give him a really hard time about being “too old for that motocross stuff” when he was still racing in his 40s/50s. Meanwhile, she led a sedentary “safe” lifestyle. Guess what? She slipped on the ice, fractured her pelvis, and had major issues. Meanwhile, dad made it more than 30 years of total racing without ever breaking a bone. Sprains/bruises/etc? Sure. But he also avoided his side of the family’s long history of heart issues by being fit and motocross was his main motivation.

I have lost a friend and a sister before they each turned 30. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Buy good gear, ride smart, but don’t ever give up something you love because some wannabe nanny says you’re too old.

The Amateur vet has no pressure from a team, sponsors, fans, media, or to prove any doubters wrong and live up to his past professional accomplishments. The amateur can ride within his ability, ride safe or slow as he wants on any given day and nobody cares. The amateur doesn’t have anything to prove or answer to anyone. A pro SX track has much bigger penalty for a mistake than your typical vet track. If this isn’t true, why aren’t we seeing more 40+ riders in PRO SX? It’s a young man’s sport and sometimes guys need to be saved from themselves.

Perhaps if the young guys were fast enough then "OLD" guys wouldn't need to strap their boots on. If it's a young mans sport, how is an "old" guy still showing up a bunch of them.

If we're saving people from themselves, perhaps ML512 should save you from your own comments?
