First, who has legit knowledge HRC is letting Chase walk?

Second, how can you compare CS23 to KDUB? Chase is 23 years old and has the majority of his career in front of him.

Third, how the fuck can you even go there yet?

Lastly, I would take KW14’s career in a heartbeat.

Here’s another golden Vital thread!
FYI in 2001 KW was also 23 years old and had the majority of his career in front of him..

It still worked out he was always the bridesmaid and not the Bride.

OP is right, there looks to be similarities between the two.
Why can’t they be compared?

Its a fair, and good comparison.

To me the biggest difference is that Windham was fairly self-sabotaging in his early years in the big class. Bike switches, team conflict, extra curriculars, a lack of preparation. He actually become a model of consistency after his comeback in ‘03, and matured a ton with age.

There are much less question marks in Chase’s program, to me. His streakiness is fading fast, and he was rock solid in the Nationals and at MXoN.
Lol. Chase is fast but his technique is flawed. He was flattered by a slowing Tomac last outdoors

He doesn't look up track sometimes and when he made that Pala 2 rookie error of not positioning his weighted foot correctly, and it came off the peg, he crashed.

That could have cost Honda the 450 crown.

It's no wonder they are lukewarm about him.

Jett is 3 years younger and has ironed out that technique deficiency.

People that know, know.

Windham like Chase has impeccable style and is amazing to watch on a bike, but his other similarity may be crappy timing.

With K-Dubs speed he should have by all rights been a multi time champion. He was just unfortunate to have his career at the same time as the greatest racers the sport has ever seen. He came along at the end of the MC era just like Sexton is coming along at the end of the Tomac era.
By the time Windham was ready to win titles so was RC, then Chad and Bubba. Talk about bad timing. If Chase doesn't take home some hardware next year, he is in danger of getting shut out of championships by Jett Lawrence.

From what we are hearing Honda may feel this way because it looks like they are willing to let Chase walk after next year and are pushing all in with Jett.

* No hate on either K-Dub or Chase, they are amazing racers. K-Dub is way better than a lot of guys that have had championships and Chase had enough points to beat Eli in any other year besides this one. Two bad dudes on dirt bikes.
Honda isn’t “willing to let him go”. They want to keep him badly, but what do you do when someone else is handing out blank checks?

Even though his theory could very well turn to be valid.
And yes "Don't question Sexton, cuz' he just contributed to the Nations win" is dumb as f**k.

Ironed that technical deficiency, really? Jett crashed out before the season even started and that was on a 250. I think Chase could end up being more like Tim Gajser, winning titles and not being considered the best by fans just like he was with his 250 sx titles. Chase right now is the fastest American outdoor rider seen as Eli has stopped now

Could be, but the jury is still out on jett. There is a long list of great riders that went up against the goats and were unable to break through. At this point they both have a chance at becoming a goat. Lets see if either becomes one.

can we bring back stingers on two stroke silencers?

i believe stingers were made illegal in the GPs because they could puncture skin in the event of a crash.

i do think they offer a unique sound

22' was Chase's best chance at getting a 450 outdoor title....

just like 20' was the best chance for AC9 to get a 450 title.... gonna be hard for either to get an indoor or outdoor championship with Jett in the 450 ranks...

Yes the Jett train is coming. Chase will be like K-Dub was to RC.
Comparing Jett to RC is crazy. RC rarely lost, and Jett wasn’t out there going 1-1 every weekend in the 250 class. Acting like he’s going to be like RC is crazy, we will never see that kind of dominance in this sport again.

RC was winning by over half a lap every race too . It s ridiculous comparison. It's actually disrespectful to RC. comparing any recent rider s to him. People forget fast how good he was

LOL

Carmichael came out publicly, on air, with Steve Matthes, last year, and said Jett is the most skillful rider he's seen including himself.

Jett just beat the best 450 riders in the world hands down for the individual MXON after winning 3 consecutive AMA series and not having a race pass made on him for 74 rides.

Maybe RC knows stuff you don't?

RC said many times that Windham and stew were way more talented than him too . How many championship s did they beat him to.? How many races even . Comparing Jett to RC is plain stupid untill he winning nearly every 450 outdoor race .

MXoN is a terrible race to say x rider is faster then y. There are way to many other motives. Jett had less to lose the Sexton or Tomac. Sexton even said he had more pace but didn’t go balls out cause he didn’t want to make a mistake.

That said I am a believer that Jett is going to go on a long run of dominance. He seems to be able to go everyone else’s speed without looking like he’s on a edge. I truly don’t think Jett has shown us the upper limits of his speed yet.

I hope he wins a title and I think he has the stuff to do so but there might be a risk he is like Lusk/Windham, however he might be more like Lusk in that he will always train and ride to the max. But I find it hard ot believe he won't win a major title, Eli, Anderson etc won't be around much longer - Jett could be is main rival for years.

Bingo. Ask. Coldenhoff and Anstie. Comparing jett to. Rc is comical. Rc. Said the same about stewart.

Dude, your Jett fandom is next level and beyond annoying. Were you even around moto when Carmichael raced? Your post history would indicate not. Jett Lawrence is nothing compared to Ricky Carmichael at this point in his career.

What I do know is there is more riders than ever performing really well making the field deeper than it ever has been. No disrespect to the guys RC was racing, but the difference between the top 10 has closed dramatically over the years. Sexton and Tomac of course being the exception.

Obviously, Sexton is fast and can win championships. He does have a knack for falling at the wrong the time, but seemed to get over this in the '22 Nationals.

To win a 450 cc championship. he is going to have to beat some very good riders, including Ferrandis, AC (yes, he'll be back), Savatchy, Anderson, and maybe even #94 - that guy was so fricking fast I hate to give up on him.

Then there is Jett, who looks to me like a nearly sure-thing, multiple-time 450 champion, indoors and out.

Unless you are the GOAT, Stephan, Cairoli or the Bullet (and Chase is none of these), it is going to take some good luck to win one or more big bore championships.

You're the only one in MX community who thinks Sexton has flawed technique. Please point them out, Pony Boy!

But Ricky thinks otherwise on the public record. James Stewart had Jett's passes on Chase (and others) on video loop during his post MXON show. He was having a good chuckle about them too and the situation in the tent.
Tomac really struggled to pass next level Sexton in outdoors '22: in moto 2 at MXON when it was still all up in the air Jett blew past Chase, and waved.
