We had a stay in Schenectady NY that was at a place the airline put us up in. Had a delay so we got to this place and the room was dirty, used towels, bedding everything, I think it was a Motel 6. We didn't have a choice and the front wouldn't give us another room. We were only going to be there about 6 hours so we laid on top of the bed and didn't move. The Taxi ride over, from Albany, was my family of 4 and 2 other people in a regular cab. The same driver both ways, I think he had TB. Also drove with it so hot I had to open a window in 0* temp. . He had the front seat so forward, even my short legs were cramped.

The Comstock in Reno. Looking back I think the homeless picked the locks and opened up shop. 310 rooms and I think we were the only ones there. Door slams behind us as we walk into our room and two light fixtures fell off the wall. It used to have a casino on the first floor but it was all closed down and dark. Really creepy place, but 40 bucks a night.

Sounds like Fresno!

Paid $250 for a shithole room in Santa Cruz. I will never ever pay that kind of money again without checking the room out first.
I had stayed at the place next door before and it was pretty nice. No Vacancy though.

Some shithole in Baker, MT last winter, it was -20 outside so the truck stayed running as to not gel up. The room was about the size of my kids matchbox and you climbed off the bed stood up and you where either in the shitter, sink or the TV. Froze my ass off thank goodness for the Garage bar down the street to make the bad man go away.

Motel 6 in Tulsa this year for the Chili Bowl, the place was rough. I had t unpack the van every night in the 12 degree weather and re load it in the morning at 6am so the equipment inside wouldn't get stolen. The bare midget chassis inside the van stayed, but God it was awful. The shower was like getting sprayed with a hose while standing in a 55 gallon drum, but thankfully it was sort of clean. Except for the whores and bugs.

Almost got in a fistfight at the Waffle House down the street and watched the cook swing a chair at a drunk.

Traveling for motocross though, I've always made sure my rooms were good. Best room I've ever had was a Ramada by the airport in Indy, or the Westin in Toronto.

An old hotel in France when we went to the MotoD in Holland and went on a train ride.
The Holiday Inn wanted $300! so we said Fuck that!

I think I remember seeing hyperdermic needles around...

I bought a WR250F from Scott Plessinger back in '03, and stayed at a Days Inn just outside Columbus when I drove up to get it.

$75 bought me a room facing the freeway (I could see it through the cracks in the door) that smelled like cigarettes. Heavy traffic all night (sounded like the trucks were IN the room). Weird stains on the floor, and I started itching the minute I walked in.

I was afraid to touch anything in the place, but it was 1 am and I was beat. I went back out to the truck and got my sleeping bag so I could lay it out on top of the bed. Slept in my clothes, too.

I'll never do another spur of the monent trip like that. Now I make reservations ahead of time.

Driving the Reynard parts trailer behind a Ford duallie on the way to Vancouver, BC from Indy nack in 95, pulled in late, no rooms left. Finally found the last one available at that exit, and when we opened the door the floor was covered with crickets.


I went out for some beers, and when I came back my roommate had smashed them all into the rug. You couldn’t get out of bed without putting your shoes on. He missed one in the bathroom though. We couldn’t find it and it kept us up all night!

when i raced the 500 nationals in 1977 we had little money. for lake whitney tx we stayed in camp grounds then on sat nite we splurged and popped for a motel in hillsborough tx. 9.95 a nite i think. one thing it had going for it was an ass kickin ac mounted over the bed...one thing it didn't have going for it was the bathtub/shower. when you touched the bath faucet you got electrocuted. weird...musta had a wire touching inside the wall or something. stayed cool but stinky.....

The American Inn, in Missouri or Kansas. Place had holes in the wall, walking through the bathroom your feet would stick and squeek. Woke up in the morning to see the bed matress had been absolutely covered in blood. Freaking disqusting.

Panama City Florida, pool was green, freaking shower would drip very slowly, had to cup my hands under water let them fill up and try to throw it on my head. Was invited by some folks and told everythings paid for. Get there and they want my share for the room, sleep on the nasty floor. Ended up grabbing my shampoo and going to a gas station and bathing in the hose. Go to club Lavela and hooked up with this chick we hang out a few hours and after spending most of my money, she has the bouncer throw me out for nothing. Get in the car a T- top transam the dumbass I was with thinks he's the bandit and starts doing donuts on the strip at 2 am we actually get away with it for a bit and then he gets put in jail. I walk at least 6 miles back to the room, at least i get a bed. Get up and hitch hike home.

I've done the o'le Panama City Hitch Hike before.

Cops arrested me and a buddy for jumping into the back of a truck on the strip.

They eventually let us go when they figured out we weren't gonna give them any money.
