RMZ250- rich coupler for oxygenated fuel?

Seems like all the bike tests recommend the “lean” efi coupler for the rmz250 but, if someone was running an oxygenated fuel such as vpr or u4.4 would it be beneficial to run the “rich” coupler? I know on other brands people just send the ecu out to get remapped, which I looked into briefly and it seems twisted development can’t remap Suzuki ecu’s and I’d have to buy a vortex system.

Reason I ask is I have a 2020 rmz250, I am running vpr, only other modification is a yoshimura rs4 system, and I’m using the lean coupler and when riding it hard on the track it seems like it has a lean backfire at times. Thought maybe running the black coupler would maybe be the “poor man’s” way of remapping the ecu for oxygenated fuel.

There is a GET tuner for the 2019+ RMZ250. It has been shipping with the bike for the last 2 years. I am not sure what it would cost if it didn't come with the bike, but if all you need is to add fuel it should work. The rich coupler usually retards timing too and the white advances it. At least that is how Kawasaki sets up theirs.

Yeah that’s kind of what I figured- it would change ignition timing as well and it wasn’t just a rich air/fuel coupler. I bought this bike used but got it off the original owner who seemed to have everything the bike came with. I will look into the get tuner.

If you download the get app you can see the maps for the 3 couplers. The rich coupler is just 4% richer everywhere with a 4% idle offset. Timing is not changed.

If you are looking to go the tuner route I bought one for $100 USD on MX Locker a couple months ago. You would just need to find the battery connector (Suzuki PN: 36890-28H00) and a battery.

Thanks man! I will definitely look into the tuner. Would you say that in the mean time it would be a good idea to run the rich coupler with the oxygenated fuel? Although maybe vpr doesn’t have a high enough oxygen content to justify it?

Wow, I paid over $500 for mine from the dealer when I bought my 20'. I'm running Michigan pump premium and my bike is way happier using the most aggressive map that comes with the tuner. It's similar to the white coupler I believe but with more advance. I have a RS-12 system, Twin Air ProFlow and the side plates opened up some.

Definitely getting lean pop by the sound of things. Try looking on the web for a used Suzuki vortex or GET ecu and see what pops up and send it in. You would will be much better off.
