When watching Pala 2 I was wondering why on earth we would choose Justin Cooper to be on team USA when he was sitting in 5th. But when I looked who was ahead of im it was a Frenchman, 2 Australians and a Japanese guy. He was also 15 seconds ahead of the next american by mid moto. So he is, by far, the best choice we have for an MX2 guy to represent USA.

So H. Lawrence, Shimoda, Musquin, De Wolf, Laengenfder and Horgmo are the only MX2 guys I could see possibly beating him. I highly doubt they all do though. I’d be surprised if Cooper isn’t one of the first 3 250 finishers barring a crash or something.

He doesn't need to be the best. Australia has their best 250 guy racing a 450, France best 250 rider isn't racing, Shimoda has no team mates of his level, Belgiums best 250 guy is riding 450. Who's on a 250 that's hands down going to beat Justin speed for speed? Shimoda? H Law? Maybe those 2. Dewolf, Everts, Anstie, Musquin could all have great days but Cooper should handle them all. Who Else is there? Farres ? Adamo?

I'd bet on him to holeshot and win the heat on Saturday.
