They are convenient but how well do they block dirt? Any users out there?

I am a Maxima super fan. Their oils never cease to amaze me at rebuild time, their FFT air filter oil is solid, on and on.

However ... when I took their air filter out of the package, and compared it to the Twin Air and OEM air filters, I couldn't bring myself to run one.

I trust Maxima generally, but I couldn't get behind their air filters based on the relative quality of the competition. This said, remember I never ran it - so I honestly don't know.

You're asking for a reason - do you have concerns as well?

Rider 5280. I've been using them for a short while but I'm suspicious there's a little dirt getting through. The inner filter seems to have a reasonable amount of oil on it but the outer filter not so much. I ordered 4 and 2 of them the outer filter looked ok but the other 2 seemed questionable. I emailed Maxima support about it with a pic attached a week ago but no reply yet.

With most pre-oiled filters I find I need to oil them a tad anyway, so I've given up on them generally.

I'd call Maxima. They eventually do respond to email, but they seem to always get back quickly via phone.

Never tried the Prolifter, might have to do that some time. I love the 927 2 smoke oil they have, it smells great at the track/trails and when you go out to yer garage to crack a beer it still smells great.

Never had any dirt pass through one. They’ve been oiled properly. Generally many riders over oil filters… If you’ve got lots of oil oozing down to the bottom of the air box it’s too much.

I definitely understand the concern as the quality of the profilters is noticeably lower than Twin Air or other OEM ones I have used. However I've used probably 50 of the pre-oiled disposable profilters on different bikes and have not perceived any dirt getting past them. A caveat is that I do spray a decent bit more maxima FAB1 on the filter before using it. They are coated too lightly out of the package for me to feel comfortable just slapping it in.
Using the pulpmx discount code they come out to just under $10 a piece and for me that is worth it to not have to deal with cleaning filters.

CornflakeJackson, funny you should mention FAB1. That's what I started doing and I'm much more comfortable about using them now. I ride so little now I like the convenience of not having to clean a filter. Thanks

I run ‘em unless it’s super silty.

Like others I hit them with a quick shot of Fab1 and roll.

Never thought any dirt got through that I could see.

Absolutely love the Maxima ready to use filters. Highly recommend them! I will never clean another air filter if I can help it. I have used 50+ filters on the last three bikes and have never seen any amount of dirt or sand get by.  I ride mostly sandy terrain and have had some super caked filters but are always perfectly clean inside and no indication of dirt or sand starting to penetrate the inner layer.

My personal belief is you will never get washable filters completely clean. There will always be some residual contamination.  I could rinse filters ten plus times in fresh water and still find a few sand particles.  With Pro Filters I know 100% I'm getting a perfectly clean filter.

I ran these filters for a few race days.

It is convenient for track day use filter stays clean and easy to pack in a tote.

Quick changes in between practice or race session.

Never noticed any dirt getting by into the airbox I did run a pre-filter over them for desert races.

I do still use twin air or no toil filters when out practice riding for the longer durations for piece of mind.

Am I the only one that reuses the disposable filters? If I'm careful I can get at least a few uses out of them before the glue fails and I toss them.

I'm not sure how you are using them but may need to rethink a $10 air filter over a motor rebuild

Guess I'm an idiot but I've been using them for a few years like this and put 100s of hours on my bikes with zero problems.
