I bought ride engineering clamps which I love btw but having a hard time keeping the wheel alignment straight. Any tips on making sure it will stay straight ( wheel lined up with front fender)? Seems like the forks twist in the clamps. Thanks also the clamps are not bent I put them on glass and no wobble, new bars and bar mounts as well.

If it makes you feel any better my 22 crf450 with stock clamps misaligns just off slap downs. Everything gets taken apart and torqued to the manual spec, land a little long or slap the front and it’s off. Drives me mental taking my stuff apart this frequently so if you find anything it would be helpful.

This happened to my son's 450 after a bad crash and it bent both fork tubes and lower triple clamp. I thought it was just the clamp replaced with a set of Ride Eng clamps problem still there! Brought the forks to work checked for straightness sure as shit they were bent replaced the tubes problem fixed!

I wouldn't go up on torque they have a certain torque for a reason you don't want to cause binding in the fork. Sounds to me like the triple clamp was machined incorrectly

I’ve a 22’ 450rx with Luxon. Zero issues. Stockers turned too quick for my slow ass.

Sort of off topic but just read this then it made me think. I had to go check my bike. I put a set of Ride Engineering clamps on my YZ250 January 2021 that I got on Black Friday of ‘19. Rode the bike twice (secondary bike) and both times I thought something just doesn’t feel right. But convinced myself nah I’m just being weird since I had new parts on it should feel different. Corners way better but just felt sloppy. After reading this thread I know have found that slop. If I pull the front break I can move the whole front end 1/8 inch back and forth. I’m lost. Everything is torqued to spec and had new races installed in the head tube on the frame. Figured while I had it apart I might as well grease new bearings and put it. They came with a bearing on the bottom stem and I obviously left it since it was already there. But anyways check the pictures to see what I’m talking about. What could be causing this??

There's something very wrong there!

Are you using the bearing Ride supplied? If so, are you also using the race they supplied as well? Ride doesn't use OEM bearings, they use All Balls. And for Yamaha, the All Balls bearings aren't the same size as stock OEM bearings, so you have to replace the race as well.

I'd recommend replacing all the bearings and races with fresh OEM Yamaha bearings. That should fix the bearing issue at least.

Funny say that bc I did put the new race and bottom bearing in that came with the clamp. When I pull my front brake in, rock back and forth I did notice more play then usual.. I’ll have to check into that

Make sure you also have the right bearings in the right spot. The top bearing is different from the bottom. I'm not sure it's even possible to switch them, but if it is, then that will be an issue too.

Good catch I’m sure that’s it. Yeah it’s the supplied bearing from them. I figured it’s on the stem might as well use it. I ordered a All Balls bearing kit because it was the same price as just the OEM Yamaha top bearing. Guess I’ll tear into it tomorrow after work and figure it out. I’m going to order new Yamaha races & bearings since I’m sure these are shot now! Thanks!!
