Right now, down voters aren't shown and only up voters are. Should it change for both to be public?

As for the anonymity, I don’t understand people taking downvotes so seriously. On the flip side, if you downvote someone you should own it. I say show ‘em.
This is a conversation not a contest.
If the more popular posts get pushed to the top it's going to make for a very disjointed conversation.
@yz133rider I agree it’s a conversation, but it wasn’t about making it contest. It was more about removing the need to sift through 5 pages of bullshit to find quality posts/info. It’s a bit annoying for a moto-related thread to have 3 or 4 people bickering with each other about Covid or some other unrelated crap. The mods can only do so much, and I figured having downvoted posts moved to the end of the thread would help clean it up a bit. I was just tossing out ideas, but you and Mav make good points and I agree it should stay as is.
Or get rid of the whole thing, no up or down votes. Force people to quote someones post if they really want to have a discussion. I can't remember ever downvoting someone, if I see something I disagree with I'll quote it and give my response. If someone is just being an asshole or stupid, I move on. I'll upvote something if it's really cool or I strongly agree with it.

It has nothing to do with what the person posted either. It's more just to piss off the person that started the thread about the downvotes. Sort of like here's a downvote for complaining about downvotes.
I guarantee you most post don't even get read. Straight to thumbs down.

It's not as bad in non-moto, but then again it seems like most of the non-moto crowd is more mature.

If I wanted to explain my displeasure in detail, I'd write a reply like this one. The purpose of the upvote downvote is to be able to simply show pleasure or displeasure of a post without polluting a thread with:
posts and the like.
I would have to seriously think about it but I don't think I have ever downvoted. I have upvoted some, especially if I am in general agreement and don't feel it necessary hammer out a long post saying the same things. I like the upvote feature for that. Not sure what a downvote is even useful for, anonymous or not. If you disagree with the gist of a post, wouldn't the burden be on you to state your disagreement?

So, I guess I don't get the whole "down-vote just because" thing. I do find it kinda funny, tho. I've got a few "fans" that ALWAYS down-vote me and it's kinda entertaining.

Really? That's how it works? Not for me. If I don't like what someone is saying, you'll certainly be able to figure out that I "don't agree".

I just look at is as 7 people disagree with what I had to say as Chance1216 explained in his response and I'm totally fine with that. I wish we did live in a world where we could all have rational discussions and respectfully disagree.
No matter what ends up happening with this thing it's going to piss off a lot of people. Wither it stays, goes, changes whatever. Just make sure to get the popcorn ready lol.
