Photographers Perspective - Millville

Edited Date/Time 1/26/2012 11:17pm
Hey everybody, I'm back with a few more spectator shots from Millville. I appreciate all the comments I got from my Red Bud photos, it definitely motivates me to keep doing it. I got a request for more privateers too so I threw a few in. More pictures are coming, check back if you like what you see.

For a little background, my name is Adam Zabel and I'm a photographer and racer from Southeastern Wisconsin. I've been going to the nationals ever since I can remember, but I've only been shooting pictures since 05. I got hurt in a practice crash and I took photography up as a way to stay at the local tracks. I'm old enough to race professionally but unfortunately not old enough to take pictures on track, so that's held me up a bit this year but if everything goes right I will be on track next year. My goal is to work in the industry, obviously now as a photographer, and right now I'm just trying to find out of it's possible and I'm doing everything I can to make it happen. I will most likely be at Unadilla and Steel City for sure.

Remember the name, I'm hoping you'll hear more of me in the future. Wink

It was high 50's low 60's all day. I spotted some honeys but they were all in parkas and sweatpants so I didn't bother.

Adam, just talked to Duke this morning. He told me your headed up north to do a write up on Sam.

Congrats on the credentials and good luck! Nice pics!

I've been a fan of your shots since I first saw them on ThumperTalk (I think I recognize your watermark logo from there!)

And btw, I just now noticed, is Reed wearing a yellow LIVESTRONG wristband? Or what is it?

DC... btw my comments were directed to Adam and his ability to shoot a race regardless of a media vest... good for him and since I've shot for the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, NASCAR, NHRA and AMA... I can and do have an opinion about getting a credential for the sport of NoMoneyCross... just because you don't know or accept the truth about something doesn't mean someone else can not... oh and for the record, clicking and Duck tape only proves peoples point! But as for Adam's credential... we wish him the best of luck and look forward to viewing his (with vest) pics! ;-)

Psychle, I have no idea what you're talking about with clicking and duct tape and media credentials and whatever else you are are talking about there, but I tried to get Adam a vest for Millville, only he's too young; we do have time for Unadilla and Steel City to get a parental consent deal done.

If you've had a problem getting a credential to shoot a national, and have an assignment from someone or a freelance deal, by all means just send it to me and I will do what I can to help.

DC... thanks for your interest... but it's better to help the new guys pursue their career hopes than try and fix the past. ;-)

I don't think it matters whether you're young or old in photography -- I am still shooting film!

If you got shut out of a race before this summer, or if it was a Supercross race or GP, I can't really do anything about that, but I can maybe help you get a photo pass for any rounds of the outdoor series or even Loretta Lynn's, if you're ever interested.

ya.. I've always had a question about this, but never really had anyone to talk to. What are the requirements for a photo pass? I'm a freelance photographer and I have my own website, but I heard the you must be on assignment from a magazine, website, newspaper, etc. in order to obtain a pass. Any suggestions DC?

Todd, that's what the criteria pretty much is: an assignment from a recognized form of media, be it a magazine, district newspaper, local publication, or even one of the bigger websites (VitalMX, Motonews, MXLarge, etc). Or if you are a regular freelancer like Kinney Jones, Carl Stone, Steven Bonnau, etc., and they know you're working for various mags, domestic and abroad, that usually gets you in.

Supercross and X Games are harder, and understandably so, because of the limited space down on the floor.

All that said, the next outdoor national or big amateur deal that you want to go to, let me know with an email (DC@mxsports.com) and I will try to get you hooked up, because the quickest way to get on the moto-photo circuit is to show your work to some editors and advertisers, and what they want to see if what you can get shooting a race. Your own site looks good, so that shows you're serious!
