Hello everyone
I am new to this forum and thought I would introduce myself. I live in Ontario Canada and my 14 year old son has been working his way up into the dirt bike world. As a good Dad, I feel it is my obligation to chase him around a bit when he goes riding. I started with a WR450F (I'm a veteran rider both dirt/street, just old and fat). I found the skinny seats on the modern bikes super uncomfortable so I sold that one this spring. In the meantime I fixed up a Polaris 525 IRS but now I am finding many of the trails and tracks near me are not sport quad friendly. I love that machine but not a lot of places for us to ride.
So, being an old guy and loving crazy power, I found a pretty much complete 1980 YZ465 that I am now working on. Getting the jetting sorted at the moment it is ridiculously bad. Once that is done I will be ripping around and picking through the details to make it 100% correct. One thing it is missing is the duel leading shoe backing plate which is a bit of a bummer, maybe someone here will have one I can buy.

I looked for a DLS backing plate for nearly a year before finding one on EBAY.
Marks swap meet is a place to put up an ad for what you will be looking for in a Vintage resto.

I had a 81 YZ465 that I raced for a few season in the local Harescramble vintage series and it was a lot of fun besides the dead engine starts. I even had a fox twin clicker rear shock on it that was phenomenal.
