you need to head further up the coast or more into the valley. Its slim pickings up here for tracks. You always have Pismo.

hmm.. like up to Santa Clara at 408 MX. Or into the valley. Madera had a nice track, but it got torn down like a year ago. You are going to have to drive a couple of hours in any direction to find a track.

And I know what you mean about Pismo. haha, I've been going there for like 10 years and it gets old. But its not bad riding, unless its on the weekends or holidays. Im actually going up there in a couple of weeks.

well thanks man! I guess I am just spoiled when I go stay with my parents and have tracks all within less than an hour drive..

Pismo is sweet...I have found some pretty fun jumps and have also followed some locals around to their jumps and have had a great time.

I am in the middle of moving back into a house in slo right now so I wont even have my dirtcycles til next week.

haha.. ya I know what you mean. My friends that I'm meeting up in Pismo are from Long Beach. So they have tracks everywhere. I only have like 3 tracks within a 2 hour drive. haha. But ya, if you get your bikes to SLO, you should go to Pismo for a day when my friends and I go. We find some pretty good jumps out there for sure. What school are you attending?

There is NOTHING over there. That's why I will never go back. I'd rather live in a shithole (Fresno) and have a few tracks to choose from that aren't in a different time zone.

Sad, but true.

There is a track just outside of Santa Maria called Moto Club Central Coast. Check out the DirtWerkz Track pages for track information. Also there is Handford which has good dirt and its a fun track not too far away.

In addition to the Hanford track there's Tulare and Porterville.

Tulare Cycle Park

Porterville's # is 559-782-7541. Located on the NW corner of the airport, corner of Scranton Ave. and West St.

Looks like everybody else have already covered what is available.
Might want to try asking a couple of local bike shops, they may know of a few places.
You would have loved Santa Maria. Always had good turnouts, and when they didn't they would run three motos.
Practice was a blast, about as smooth and hooked as it gets, come first moto, the whoops on the straights would get so bad, it was hard to not down shift.
Last time I was there was in early eighties. Damn! that was a long time ago, seems like yesterday.

Spillway Park. Lots of great memories of that place. I didn't actually start racing MX till after it closed in '85, but rode and watched races there many times. MX on the central coast has been a wasteland ever since. You have to be comfortable with doing lots of driving if you want to be a racer in this area.

Moto Club is a cool little track, but you have to be a member or have someone bring you out on a guest day.

When are you guys going to Pismo? I'll be there Aug 7-9.

I hear there is a lot of riding in Central California on private tracks. LOTS of open area and people with huge ranches, etc. Start asking around at local shops and trying to meet other local riders. There are a few tracks/riding areas that i know of in SLO and also Paso Robles area. Doesn't Cal Poly have a motorcycle club? You shouls check into that Tryon...

Right now they are having a membership drive half off ($200 bucks right now) and $30 a month. Doesn't get much cheaper than that.

i will have my bike here in a week so i will most likely be at pismo whenever I get a chance..

as far as private areas.. the girl i am seeing has family out near castillo ranch and there are some fuggggin bad ass places to ride but I am not realllly on the guest list(s). I will start asking around though.. where are there even shops around here?

socal is a piece of shit sometimes with its traffic and population, but whenever i remove myself from there i find out what its like to have to kinda go out of my way to do anything...

guess it makes it more worth it!!

thanks for all of your responses guys! hopefully we can all go out on the same day or days comin up!

ya.. shops have been closing down in that area alot. There used to be one called Powerhouse Motorsports (HUGE shop) in Paso Robles but MDK bought them out and where supposed to move in, but never did because of the economy.
