Any idea how they determine whether you get your picks or not?

No clue
I think, just guessing, there is some seniority involved (people who've been a lot) and then noobs always seem to get a little preferential treatment, which is nice, being new and all, other than that, they call Miss Cleo

I think numbers 1 to 10 are reserved for any of last year's top ten in a specific class that are still in the class, but that mostly works for vet and senior riders or A-class riders still amateur....

They also take into consideration seniority and special requests, up to #99 (no three-digit numbers at Loretta Lynn's), though it's mostly random from the computer.

I remember James Stewart being #30, #25, #12..... Pretty random stuff.

Chris, which guys qualified for main events? I will go check it out next door or with AMA Sports....

And Dave, if you still want some of that beer, quit calling me a NooB!

why do they allow them to race both 250A and 450A? if your fast enough to qualify on a 450, your almost cheating on a 250. plus that would open more spots for others to make in it a class. the pros dont get to do it...seems like cherry picking to me.

Gang, I read this wrong and now I am unsure on the rule. When Tim Cotter of MX Sports gets back from Millville, I will have him explain exactly what the criteria is for riders who have qualified for a Supercross or AMA Motocross race. The way I now understand, it's even more strict than it used to be.

Wow, I am a noob!

Because it is two different classes.

The rules for Pro racing and the rules for Amateur racing aren't the same.
Fast on a 250 doesn't always equal fast on a 450.

True that. Often in B and C class it's easier to qualify on a 450 than a 250.

What one of our riders told me just before he left for Millville was that if he scores a point, he cannot race at Loretta's.

Hope this helps:
From The Loretta Lynn Supplemental rules 2009:
1. The following riders may enter the A/Pro Sport class only:

a. Riders earning AMA Pro Racing motocross points the previous year;

b. Riders qualifying for an FIM MX1, MX2, MX3 Grand Prix event in the current or previous year.

2. The following riders are not eligible to participate in the National program:

a. Riders earning AMA Pro Racing motocross points in the current year;

b. Riders qualifying for an AMA Supercross main event in either the Supercross Lites or Supercross class in the current or previous year; or

c. Riders earning an AMA Pro Racing national number (2-99) in motocross or supercross in the current or previous year.

Well, there you go. Basically all of the AMA examples involve scoring a point.
