brock- Speaking of DMC...I've was hanging out with Dave Miller just last weekend. On Saturday he was at Brad Boyle's vintage bike barbeque where he displayed his incredible Whizzer powered board-track bike. The next day I showed my Sportster at Anaheim-Fullerton Harley and Dave came out to say hello and drove his '55 Chevy that was so cool. I wore a vintage Saddleback shirt from Swolen.com and there were three mx racers from back in the day who recognized me.

MXPUNK511- I was track photographer at OCIR and knew Chip and his dad well. From Saddleback I have many shots of the Harry's crew on the SOCALMXNEWS.COM site. Don't put in any bike numbers yet but get to the archive and blue search bar. There are especially a lot of shots of Jamie Oliver, Pete H., and Amy and Mike Musson.

#515- On that site there are two shots of #26 at Photo ID: 329 and 331. Could that be Tracy Meeks?

Oh yes, I'm still sorting out my archive of papers from the '74 and '83 WMGP for those who requested results.

I attended the Whiting MX school in 1974 on my XR-75, it was a blast riding with Matt and AJ and getting to know both of them. Glad to hear that they are both doing well.

I asked in another thread a while back and didn't get much. Does anyone remember Broc Bullard, Youngblood twins (Daryll & Derick maybe), Tony Youngblood,Jay Mann,Johnny Dean from the 80's? The Youngblood twins road Yamahas and Dean rode an RM 80 when noone else was riding them. The rest rode Kawis. All were from GA and FLA.

I remember Daryll & Derek Youngblood. They were a bit younger than myself, but used to see them regularly at a little track in Tampa called Golden Eagles. Their Dad and my older brother used to work at the same place from '83 until about '01.
I think it was Derek who holeshot the 125A class at the Daytona amateur supercross in '85 and led it for quite a few laps before casing it off a double and breaking his wrist. He did not crash, but messed up his wrist pretty bad.

I think Bobby Jay Mann posts on here from time to time.

I met the Youngblood twins and their dad once and they seemed like nice people. Their dad was friedly and offered up advice. I was wonderindg what happened to some of these guys.

Herbie Youngblood is as nice of a guy you could want to meet. I had only known him for a short period of time, when I was putting together a '79 YZ250 motored Champion frame dirt tracker. I was using an '86 -'87 YZ 80 ignition system on it, and he just gave me two brand new CDI boxes he had for it. CDI's aren't cheap . I thought that was a very generous thing for him to do. He loved motorcycle racing.

How about Chuck Bell? I think he raced the FMC series if I remember right. Maybe I don't though. I only saw him a couple of times but he was fast. There was a kid named Chris Brown that was racing in the early 90's when i was finishing up. We raced at Jones MX in jacksonville. He was a fast 80 rider and I think he went on to do well at LL or Ponca. I thought he might could make it but i didn't hear much more about him.

I do not have any photo's, but Flyin' Mike Brown on the Indian"s back around '73 was more than a match for Jeff Ward. I remember seeing Brown at North Florida raceway in Ponte Vedra/Palm Valley at the mini nationals and he was nearly unbeatable that day. Number "0" . Rocky Folsom was another early mini go-fast kid. Rhett Radford also.

80A class, in 1974, 1975,1976, 1977, I had the pleasure or not?! to ride with and against.

A few; Denny Bentley, Danny Hedley, Scott Neiman, Kip, Kreg, Bigelow. I drew a blank on the others. I will add more later.

A couple girls in my class, Lisa Atkins, and Tammy Brooker were good riders.

Some of the trick bikes I raced against back then, were insane! DG monoshock framed YZs, XRs, Bater Forks, larger front wheels and motor mods galore! Ted or Ken Corrigan's 76 YZ80C had the Myerscough kit(I think) and their uncle or they told me it was pushing 16HP!)? You can(or can you) validate this for me, to what numbers those kits were producing?!

Anybody remember Shaun Kelley's Humble Yamaha YZ60 that put the spanking on Flyin' Mike Brown at the NMA National at Saddleback and NMA World Championships at Rio in '74?

Flying Mike Brown continued to fly high in later years and entertained many until his accident. He is a good friend of mine and called recently.

All I know is reading this is making me older, but man what a blast from the past! Read quite a bit in here about Shaun Kelley from Houston. Yea he was fast, but there was a skinny blond headed kid that we just called "Wormy", His momma called him Glenn, the fastest thing going on two wheels in Texas for quite a while. Used to watch him spank Kelley, Howerton and Stackables butts every week at Rio, Rattlesnake Gulch in Lockhart and at both Austin tracks. Man that kid could fly!

I am new to the site, and glad I found it. More michigan riders I can think of from late 70s to late 80s. Also just some names I remeber from out of state.

This is a blast just remembering all from then. A few that come to my old feeble mind are , Ricky Glasser, Glenn Urquart, Shaun Kelley, Shannon Kelley from Houston area. The Austin area Jackie Oleary, Steve Stackable, Kent Howerton, Joe Whittier. It was funny because you thought wow, no one can be faster than these guys, and then you would go to Houston or Ponca City and see the new master blasters coming up the road! I still like watching supercross, but to me it is nothing compared to the good old days when it was a family thing, and you flew because you could instead of being payed for it! I guess that is why they call me old fart!

Mark Cheza is Nicole Cheza's father. Nichole is an AMA professional expert dirt tracker, national # 15. She rides the 450 stuff as well as the Harley XR750 against Chris Carr, Joe Kopp, Kenny Coolbeth and such.
