Hey guys, figured I would make a topic for us soldiers on this forum lol. I am trying to pick the others unfortunate brains on what they look for in a chair, and how they go about fitting etc. Currently strapped to a ti lite and its 33lbs and will be looking at a carbon chair for next year. Thanks in advance!

There arent many CF chairs out there, Motion Composites is one option, this dude was my roomate when I was in the hospital 37 years ago. He is a cool cat, check out his tips on setup.

I'm not sure. Again, I am new to this so its my first chair. I haven't had the chance to even check sports outs since my injury. Been dealing with health issues ever since and my first wheelchair guy sized me wrong and put massive pressure sores on my hips. Have had 15 surgeries due to that bastard. Still not done lol

Oh damn bro!! Sorry to hear that, in my 37 years I never had a pressure sore, until recently, I have a small one on my right ankle.

I loved playing wheelchair tennis, I traveled the whole state of California going to about 20 tournaments a year, it was a blast! Then the dirt called me back and I bought a Honda Oddessy, then a Pilot. Got into the racing scene again and even won a VORRA championship. Good times, but that was long ago. Dont want to scare ya off but my life is pretty miserable now, all that crazy shit I did when I was younger came back to haunt me. The last pain doctor I went to a couple months ago said I have the spine of a 90 year old. Did some triply shit back in the day, I was featured in an article in The National Enquirer and even a TV episode on a show called Mac and Mutely. It was all about my service dog I got just after getting hurt. Still miss that dog every day man, he was so rad.

Nowadays you guys have it pretty easy, shit back in the 80's NOTHING was assessable. I use to jump down flights of stairs and shit, I was a nutjob. lol The biggest advice I will share with you is DONT start taking opioid pain pills! I had a doctor that was a fucking pill pusher and was force feeding me them for years, probably my biggest mistake.

The guy I have been talking to who is gonna dial me in on a new chair said there might be a new CF one coming out this year, I forget the name...RGX or some shit, he is out of town for the week but I ask him again.

Dude that is awesome, Its great to hear you got back into racing. I hope to as well with dirt cars or something similar like Jessy Nelson. I don't take any pain medication and got off all pills a month after my back surgery. I know i am lucky with todays doctors compared to the 80's. I am hoping to get bone marrow stem cell relatively soon here in the future after these hospital bills go away. I haven't exactly had the chance to live since my accident and have just more or less "surviving" due to all of the complications i have had. Those sores got me septic a couple of times and I had infection in my femur as well. All of them are gone but the one down to my bone on my left hip. Hoping to have flap surgery this august and be done with it for good.

Invacare, permobile (TiLite) and Numotion are the evil 3 of wheelchair mfgs. Throw Sunrise (Quickie) on that list too.

They get stamped and welded together on generic jigs. None are actually "custom".

My next chair will be a Team HOC. Truly custom and light weight.

If you want something decent and light weight you probably are going to have to pay out of pocket, unfortunately. Insurance seems to only approve the most basic and mass produced of mobility equipment.

I wondered where quickie went. They made some pretty rad power chairs back in the day. (My ex wife had several quickie power chairs over the years). She's no longer with us, and I still have a set of her old manual wheels. If you guys know anyone who could use them let me know. They can be had for shipping cost only.

Do you guys know where the best stem cell is? It seems bone marrow is the way to go as it’s new and basically a concentrated clean dose. Thanks in advance

No clue bro, wish I could help. Hey, do you have hardware on your spine? We had a choice to have mine removed or not, sure wish I would have!

btw: What level are you? I know I read it before but cant remember.

Saw my doctor yesterday, my God what a shitshow that was! I got the Pain Management clinic telling me I have the spine of a 90 years old, and my primary care dude wants to lower the pain meds the pain doc prescribed. Such bullshit man. So fucking livid I had Doordash bring me a 12pk of beer at 11:30 last night cuz I couldn't sleep. I cant find good care up here.

...having a shitty day. Angry

Is that hand rim coated in a rubber like material or powder coated?

I have the same wheels, but I have white spokes and black hubs.

Next chair I'm going all black.

First, I’m fucking amped that vital helped you out. So badass. Second, the wheels are sweet. Thirdly, pain meds what a disaster. Wish I could help somehow

To answer your questions. I was injured March 1st of 2020. Just a freak accident practicing. Didn’t do anything dumb. Had a third gear pinned high side that bucked me pretty far and landed back first into a rut.

The injuries were burst fracture of my T10, fractured T11, 3 broken ribs, both lungs punctured, and my right femur fractured. My spinal cord was kinked, but luckily I lived in Austin Texas at the time and had a great neurosurgeon. Basically my T10 bursted and doesn’t exist, my cord was straightened and here we are.

I’m stubborn so I’m off all meds completely. I have two rods, and 4 vertebrae fused together. I would like to get them removed but fearful of issues or pain afterwords.

Currently I am facing the reality of my chair being too small. Meaning my legs are bent too far back and it caused my body to tighten up pretty badly. So I think I’m going to have to find a way to get a carbon chair.

I’m also looking at stem cell and it appears it will cost around 25k. But I think it’s worth a shot as I have gotten back some feeling as far as chills in the legs, vibrations and can feel blood flow tingling. Maybe get the ol bowels and pecker back haha.
