Thinking of buying a set of these for my 1980 RM250T. There seems to be some confusion on the correct length required. I believe stock is 394mm (15 1/2)"
Vintco say they should be 16 1/4" which is quite a difference.
Do you need to go longer with Fox shox for some reason?
I'm running 1982 RM465Z forks which I believe are a little shorter than the stock 38mm forks but would have stiffer springs so maybe they will ride a little higher?
I'm confused!
Any help/advice would be great
Thanks

Thanks for the response. From what I’ve found out the 125 N and T have a shock length of 417mm so your photo confirms that

Most fox recommendations back in the day was 1/4-1/2 longer than stock as most wanted more travel. I Built 16 1/2s fox air shox for my own 1979 RM125. I had to mix and match 2 different sets together to get that length. You may get those new repo ones for the correct length.

To complicate it further at some point they introduced the negative spring version that altered lengths.

Thanks for the info.I'm guessing I don't need extra travel as by 1980 the bikes had got to 12" stock.

16.25 is definitely too long/not the original length for a 250/400. they have specs listed wrong. 16.25 is for the 125. RM 250 and 400 should be 394mm
