Don't remember seeing these guys on full sized bikes after their mini careers.
80 -100cc
From old Dade city days. Danny Schmitt , Darren Pratt, Joe Nemechek (yes that Joe Nemechek).
And from District 8 tracks Mickey and Rudy Haynes.
Anyone know any others ?

You just hit on something that brings back many memories lets see. Garrett Claire,Mike Waters,Benji Johnson,KC Wood,Mark Knowles.Steve Dodge,Eric Yarnell,Tracy Harp,Jimmy Copeland,Ken Johnson, I can go on and on, those were the days. And some of the names mentioned were competitors of mine and i hated it when they would beat me every now and then

I've seen KC Wood and Steve Dodge in Dade city's website for point standings in the
+35 class. I guess they are still around. Wasn't Yarnell's dad the Ref for awhile ?
Bobby , you raced against Donnie Delgado too didn't you ?

Yes, Yarnell's Dad was the Ref for awhile. His mom also helped score. And yes,theres another name, Donnie Delgado,we had some good battles do you see him or know where he is. If so tell him I said hello.

Eric Yarnell has been occasionally racing some vintage races here in FL. I remember in '87 when Ray Delgado was running Yamaha of Brandon, the original one. The '87 YZ125's were not that hot and they ordered like 25 of them, so Yamaha would give them one for Donnie to ride. They got stuck with a bunch of them. That same year, they closed the doors on that place for good.But Donnie got his free bike.Shocked

I used to race with Mickey and Rudy Haines often. Last I heard they still reside in the same region of Fla and I'll stop there. Mark Knowles was one of those kids that I always thought would have gone somewhere if he had more support. Wasn't it Mark's dad that had cancer and would sit in his vehicle all day and watch with the AC on??

I use to race with Donnie Delgado back in 1981 he rode Honda if I remember right. I think I saw him at Seminole Mx a few months back racing again.

I belive Ray still lives in the same place , because I see a big boat in the yard, I'll stop by one day and check on him to see what Donnie's up to. He's only about a mile from my house.
Correct me if I'm wrong but.. Wasn't Mark Knowles the guy who always rode with that yellow windbreaker flapping in the back ?

Mark Knowles lived in the National Forrest at Croom his parents have a house there, he was pretty fast he stopped riding around 82 havent seen him since.

Delgado's been racing on and off for a long time now.

He was a regular at Pepsi/Air Dania, got fucked up in a bad crash, like a really fucked up leg/ankle or something like that, and said he was done....and didn't see him again for long time, supposedly went back to Tampa for awhile as well.

Heard months back and saw in FLMX recently he's been racing at Seminole.


Only a few remember me and we didn't travel to central/No Fla much, except for Cocoa and an occasional Orlando and Chicken Farm

I was never a mini rider unless you call a hodaka 100 a mini. Today we probably would LOL. In south Florida in the early 70's at Miami Hollywood speedway the XR75's were the mini's of choice. I think back the Doug Longwell was one of the first dominate mini riders. The later came Kenny Keylon, Mark Murphy, Keith Olriech and others.
The first time I saw a MX race with mini's was at Deerfield sand track way back when. there I saw the first yamaha mini enduro's.
I like it if the comments had names to go with the screen names so I know who is commenting. Thats why I place my name at the end of the comment.

He was part of the mini cycle group at Hyatt with Kevin Gilchrist, Doug Longwell and Kenny Keylon. He lives in Inverness florida now.

Anyone ever see Jeff Hope wax the 100`s at the Orlando track on his XR75? Yarnell is still blazing fast. Usually wins when he races.

I know Jeff Hope he rode Honda 250A and pro class. Last time I saw him was a St Pete or Chicken Farm 1981. Back then there were tons of fast riders that no one knew about!
