New game or not, GTA V has added plenty of worthwhile content and made billions more dollars in the process. If it was as bad as these MX games, their fans would be absolutely pissed, just like us MX fans.
They might not have released another GTA game, but the studio doesn't only work on 1 franchise. They also released Red Dead Redemption II which is another massive billion dollar franchise.
Rockstar isn't even in the same league as Rainbow Studios and Milestone.
GTA V has released new content every year since 2013. The game keeps expanding/evolving. They also don't stop supporting the community once a game is released, unlike Rainbow Studios and Milestone. Those guys would rather rehash their games and rebadge them as a new product.
Rockstar hasn't exactly sat on their ass with GTA V:

And they'll keep putting out content until the new game is released. There's more work in what they've released than what's put into an MX game.
Meanwhile MX games can't event get new gear DLC, or better looking numbers for the bikes and jerseys, let alone new tracks.
If you want to keep supporting shitty products, that's your right.
TBH, MX games don't even need yearly releases. They just need updates along with DLC content, but the developers aren't stupid. Why put out DLC at a lower cost when they can sell the same game to the masses at a higher price point.
Maybe the one's putting out MX/SX games could learn a thing or two from bigger game studios. Perhaps something like taking their time to put out a quality product instead of polishing the same turd?
And pissed because GTA 6 isn't coming out is not the same as being pissed about a shitty games.
Nearly a decade later they are releasing it yet again on these new consoles. The trailer for the game had more dislikes than likes. They have gone goo far in the other direction.
Not sure why MX vs ATV is lumped in for yearly releases. The quality of the game is debatable. Personally I enjoyed All Out but it definitely has its flaws..But the game launched in 2018 and has only had DLC tracks and bikes released for it. Not close to a yearly release game. This barely looks different though which is disappointing. I expect more from a brand new game. Especially after 3 years since the last game launched.

I love my GTA games. It shouldn't be a 10 year wait and 3 releases of the old game before we get a new one though.
PS2 gave us GTA3, VC and SA.
PS3 gave us GTA4, a couple of expansion packs and GTA5.
PS4 gave us GTA5 again.
PS5 is giving us GTA5 again
The reason no other GTA was released is because Rockstar are more interested in milking GTA Online and now RDR online. Selling in game currency and making hundreds of millions for very little work in return. They're dedicating resources to releasing the same game yet again on consoles you can already play it on. As far as a profitable business model goes they are killing it.
As far as the public goes we are missing out. The hundreds of thousands of dislikes on this trailer show people aren't happy with getting another GTA5 instead of new content

Out of 250,000 ratings. 220,000 are disliking this trailer. People love this series. But they want the next game. Not the same one for a third time on another generation of console where we can already play the game.
i get why they're doing it too, i'll be purchasing all 4 (again).
i bought GTAV twice (360 and PS4). hell, if i ever get the PS5 or new Xbox i'll probably buy it for a 3rd time. why? because the game is fucking amazing. i have no problem giving a company my money multiple times if they turn out a product even close to what Rockstar does repeatedly.
as for MX games, i still like and play All-Out and MESX1. if Rainbow remastered MX Unleashed, MXvsATV Unleashed, or Reflex then i'd buy those again too. i'm not sure on Legends though, haven't seen enough to make that kind of a decision this early.
oh... and i can't wait for the NEXT new Rockstar game.
In regards to the yearly releases that's my bad for bringing in the Milestone series with MX vs ATV series, but I did so because both developers are putting out sub-par products and have done so for years. That needs to be addressed, so might as well combined the problem in a single discussion.
Now, I know that the MX vs ATV franchise are not releasing a game each year, but that proves my point even more. They have no excuses to be putting out the same low quality product release after release because they have more time to work on it yet they've gone backwards. The MX vs ATV franchise peaked with Reflex, and some will say with Alive. Regardless, that should not be the case.

"I dont need to care about RDR2. I bought it. Played it a bit and didn't like it. But regardless it's a different series and doesn't excuse Rockstar and the way they've gone about GTA"
Rockstar is the same studio for both games. They concentrate their efforts on one project at a time just like Rainbow studios splits their time between MX vs ATV and the Monster Jam series.
"Nearly a decade later they are releasing it yet again on these new consoles."
Just because MX vs ATV and Milestone release new games, it doesn't mean that you're not playing an old game, just with a new title on the cover.
Im all down for GTA3, VC and SA remasters. Those games are incredibly dated graphically and the controls are pretty hard to go back to. I like remasters of games that are old and incredibly outdated. My favourite release in 2020 was THPS1+2 remastered.
I still play All Out and jump between MES1 and MES4. I know its unpopular to like these games but meh. They're still fun. They're MX games and the best available on my consoles at the moment.
But it's long overdue for the next in the series. 500+ hours into GTA5 there's just not much temptation in the same game again. I finished it on PS3. Finished it a couple times on Xbox One. I want new single player content.
Perfectly happy with old games jn same engine if they give me new content. The best era was GTA3, VC and SA. i would be happy with just one game a generation. Or new content which isn't just online.
I think we are still years away from GTA 6, seems like these new games require more time.
GTA IV: 2008
RDR1: 2010
GTA V: 2013
RDR2: 2018
So GTA VI: 2023 ??
Hope not but I have also been waiting for Halo Infinite so I have just lost hope in these games. The freemium model seems to be working best. Drop a beta, get people on a monthly pay plan.
I’d take one mx game equivalent to a GTA for 10 years than these polished turds that nordic released ever season.
2014: MX vs ATV Supercross
2015: MX vs ATV Supercross Encore (basically just re-released for PS4 and Xbox One with extra content)
2018: MX vs ATV All Out
2x games in 7 years and an upgrade for at the time next gen consoles. But yes a game with budget and quality of GTA would be insane. But there's seemingly not much money in MX games.
The part of this series I hate most is being forced to use crappy extra vehicles to finish series I dont have any interest in. MX is what I want. ATV i can handle. The other vehicles kind of ruin the game for me when i work my way through those series
I like the focus of the MES games. The realistic lighting and appearance. Actual brand bikes. The career options. I like how free the bikes feel in All Out and the control we have over them. I like the open compounds with tracks scattered around and the outdoor tracks. Track deformation. There would be a pretty amazing hybrid game if you took the best of both series. I guess its why i play both they both fill areas of MX games I like. Would absolutely love a game that ticked all the boxes. But MX games unfortunately arent popular enough to warrant big budgets and lots of people working on delivering perfection.
Who remembers MTX mototrax? I think that game had the best career mode of any

Rockstar nailed the horses in RDR II, so I have no doubt that If MX/SX was Rockstar's main focus, they'd nail that as well.
Personally, I think the best developer for an MX/SX game would be Codemasters, but that won't happen.
I'd also add...they could make the AI more challenging, or they could give you the option of dialing-up the AI difficulty so much that the game (single player) would remain a challenge indefinitely. It's another case of "engineered obsolescence". They make the game just compelling enough to keep you engaged for about a year. Then they can release a shiny new version, and the cycle can start all over again. For the devs accountants/shareholders, this is brilliant. For us shmucks who run out and buy new titles every year, it sucks.
I have zero fucking idea and it annoys me.
I'm still working on figuring out how to make jeff bezos level of money. So i can finance a proper motocross/supercross game and NHL games. and run a race team.
Im 32.. Eta to that kind of money, im planning by 42 lol so 10 years.
So far only seen some goofy death gap trail races. We shall see
