Just trying to gauge interest, I'm going to do a small batch to start out, currently have models for the Bell Moto 10 and Alpinestars SM10. Thoughts? It's a direct replacement for the oem mouth guards, I have two options for either the prongs for a GoPro, seen in pic below. Or the slide in mount that is usually used on top of the helmet.

The 6D is a popular helmet. Same with FLY.

Will you be doing any of the MTB downhill helmets?
I wear my GoPro considerably more often on the DH bike and would be interested in one for my
TLD D3Fiberlite DH helmet?
Looks like a cool idea for sure!
Good luck with your efforts! 😎👍

I would be a bit leery of making any new mounts nowadays. The AMA has banned helmet mounted cameras in AMA sanctioned competition due to safety issues. If someone is wearing your mount and gets seriously injured even if it cannot be proved to be your mount's fault not only could you be sued civilly but also the potential of criminal neglect charges aren't farfetched.

That being said a mount for a Fly Formula would be sweet. lol

have my money for an ATR-2!

maybe try venting it as well. Not sure if it makes a huge difference or not with venting if all the chin vents are covered

I bought this mount on-line and used it 2weeks ago. It worked well without shifting on the jumps. It clips in easy and is not permanent like other mounts.

I have a lot of friends that are into MTB. I will definitely be venturing into that segment soon. And to do that specific model TLD helmet, I would just need to get my hands on one to get the geometry right. If you'd want to send me your helmet to use as the mock up, I would give you the mount for free.

That would be up to the user, I know the AMA has banned helmet mounts, this would be for practice days and what not. I don't know that I agree with the legality.

If you want one for a Fly helmet, I could easily make you one, like I said before, I would just need to get my hands on one to get the geometry right.

This is the reason I started making these mounts.... The clip on/strap on style are not easy on the eyes in my opinion. The mounts I am making are not permanent, they bolt on the same as the mouth piece that comes on the helmet.

I’d be willing to send you my helmet for mock-up and a free mount for the effort!
If you have an e-mail address that I can reach you on we’ll get the details worked out and I’ll ship it to you!
I won’t need the DH helmet until I start hitting the trails in Angel Fire again this spring!
There ain’t much “down-hilling” here in the
land o’ the redneck that is Oklahoma! Ha

We all know that we should be responsible to make our own decisions.

That doesn't change the fact that the AMA has banned them because "they" have determined them to be dangerous. By you manufacturing them you are manufacturing a "known dangerous" product.

Not trying to shit on your idea and as I was mentioning I like the idea. However, do you think you have better lawyers than Durhamtown? They owe $15 milly and it wasn't their fault.

You have a good point there; someone should have mentioned that earlier.

I think you are comparing apples to oranges. Maintaining a facility and selling a product are entirely different topics. Under that logic, if I get hurt wearing a bell helmet, I could sue bell. Or if I shoot myself, I could sue Glock.

Under this logic, GoPro should've been in court battles when the ama banned helmet mounts? I appreciate the concern though.

Does this type of mount offer anything different than the clip mount that gopro has? Not trying to be a debbie just asking before you spend money on these. The gopro one you can take on and off without having to modify your helmet. The mount I am speaking about is literally just a clip, not like the one seen in this thread.

Also, what other helmets would you guys like to see them for?
Bell moto 9 and it would be cool if you could make some sort of insert for the Fly Formula and TLD SE4/5, but neither of them have removable mouth pieces.

Just curiously; do you think that in the USA of today, you couldn't sue Bell after getting hurt wearing their helmet, and have at least a marginal chance of winning? Sadly, I believe you could. Just because it's maddeningly WRONG doesn't mean it isn't possible.

From an advice standpoint, maybe think about setting up an LLC, if you haven't already. At least you could then rest a little easier, knowing your home and personal belongings aren't on the table.

Cool idea and a good product. Best of luck!

It looks like a cool mount. What is your snap point? Have you done calcs or FEA to determine the amount of force to snap it off in a crash at different impact angles?

I'm in the process of starting up an LLC. I agree that there are some crazy court cases in the USA but there are ways to protect yourself and I am taking those steps in hopes to avoid a scenario like that.

Thanks for the support!

Why nervous nellies? It's not being a nervous nellie to be realistic about the litigious society we live in.
